THE QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY!
Yesterday, my dear Mother turned 93! She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and some very dear friends..about 17 in all! She was wearing pink, her favorite color….and I curled her hair so she looked very nice! Everyone enjoyed one another’s company, and the party went from 5:30 to 8:00 PM! During this whole time, my Mother, slept through it all! I like to believe what my husband, Bob said about it….that “She was at peace having her loved ones around her, and so, rather than be agitated and fretful as she normally is while awake, she opted to enjoy her party by resting.” Nevertheless, we were there….and so was she….and we celebrated her and the wonderful person, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend she was and is! Long live the Queen!!!! Thanks to all of you who sent cards….and to Billy and Jim who sent flowers! Your love and support is overwhelming!

One of Key West’s beloved waiters and entertainers, the delightful CHRIS TANNER, was beaten up by three thugs last week in front of The BottleCap Lounge on Catherine St. These cowardly fellows, then sped off on their scooters, leaving battered and bruised Christopher, lying there. There is a $4,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of these creeps. Call the KWPD at 305-809-1111 or Aqua Lounge at 294-0555 if you have any info that can help this case. This was a Hate Crime in a town that is Loving and Kind…..this chould never be tolerated! Notify your commissioners, please!

Husband Bob had his appointment with an orthopedic doctor, to check out his right hand that was injured on his bike fall on July 28th! The good news is that it is a sprain, not a break…the bad news is that there is nothing much to be done about the problem….it is something that should heal on its own in time! Poor baby! Thanks for all your concern….he has loved hearing from you….send him messages at rfrec59@bellsouth.net.
ON THE ROAD WITH MIKE MULLIGAN AND BOBBY NESBITT..
These two darling boys, along with their equally darling dog, Charlie, are on a fabulous road trip and are having the time of their lives! Presently in the East…..Provincetown, The Cape, etc., Mike, who happens to be a wonderful writer, is documenting this trip with brilliant descriptions of their special moments and sights, and I look forward to reading these accounts every single day! I hope he will compile all these memories and put them in Book Form….makes for really great reading! By the way….today, Mike used the word “peregrinations”….a word I have actually never used …It means “traveling about”.
IN MEMORIAM….
We were very saddened to hear about the passing of Jim Nolan in Chicago, Illinois. Jim was a wonderful fellow….an adorable Leprechaun….kind and dear and so very special. We met him in 1986 and he and his lovely wife, Nancy, became very good friends. Jim lived at Key West By the Sea for many a year…he was an inventor, a fisherman, had a real zest for life, and he loved people! He will be deeply missed!
