DEAR READERS……First of all….HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!! Last evening, Lateda was bursting with revelers who were at the Tea Dance, the grand finale of Fantasy Fest! If you stayed until 9 PM, you probably heard the Fat Lady Sing, the signal that the FEST has come to a close… Anyway, we were there on the earlier side of the evening…I wanted to leave before I was asked to “sing!” Then, I would know they had me pegged as the “Fat Lady” and my ego couldn’t take it! Now that Fantasy Fest is over with…..the Parrot Heads are coming to town. Watch out for those wild and crazy hats and the official lanyards around the necks. And how lucky the Parrot Heads are to have Kathy Russ as its President!

THANKFUL THURSDAY IS COMING UP!!! ….Now that we are back in town, I am resurrecting Thankful Thursday, which is on November 3rd, this week! HAPPY HALLOWEEN BIRTHDAY TO….one of Key West’s finest Actor, and good friend, MICHAEL MULLIGAN (Recall AMADEUS, EQUUS, MY FAIR LADY..Wow!!!!)….and to that debonair man about town, KENNY WESCHLER!!!! By the way….if you need a great personal trainer, call Michael….or take one of his classes at the Coffee Mill…..and if you want an amazing landscaper and plant miracle man, call Kenny Weschler! Kenny literally saved a Royal Palm of ours that others thought was dead…..He worked his magic, and the Tree is better than ever! Let me know if you need numbers

TONY FALCONE’S LETTER IN THE CITIZEN…..Hopefully you read the great letter Tony, owner of Fast Buck Freddie’s wrote to the Citizen! He is suggesting having certain sections of Duval St. to be closed to cars twice a week on a trial basis. The restaurants in that area could then have umbrella tables out on the street with appropriate street entertainers…..(not bucket hammers, but nice background music)….Having just returned from Europe, where this is prevalent, I can picture this on Duval St……On our beautiful evenings, this would be divine! If you support this idea, which in my opinion, is long overdue, please contact your city commissioners. You can e-mail the city clerk at csmith@keywestcity.com. These letters are read at meetings and can influence our commissioners. We lived in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL for awhile, and often visited St. Augustine. Their whole historic shopping area is blocked off to cars, and it is filled with locals and visitors. I really do think this is worth a try and hope you do too. If not, I respect your opinion and hope you do mine. Thanks for considering.

BOBBY NESBITT’S BACK…..That wonderful Bobby Nesbitt, has been missed in Key West this summer. Since Sept. 24, he has been performing to enthusiastic crowds at Pusser’s New York American Bar, in Munich, Germany. We had the great pleasure to see him there on October 1st! We spent 18 wonderful days in Italy, and capped our trip off with Bobby Nesbitt…what a super way to finish a vacation! Bobby never told me that Pat West and Chip Allen, former owners of The KEYS Piano Bar, were also in Munich. You can imagine our surprise when they walked in…what great fun!!!! The next two days, Bobby was our tour guide and he showed us “His” Munich, with a splendid walking tour. On Oct. 3, our last day in Munich, we three went to Oktoberfest and had a blast! The only wrong thing we did, was we decided to go on the roller coaster……my left side is just now feeling better after being jolted around! What were we thinking? Anyway….having Bobby back makes my heart sing….hoping he will be performing back at all our favorite haunts in Key West!!!!
