WE SAY GOOBYE TO….Bruce Moore who has been here in Key West, making a big splash since February. He returned to Gettysburg, PA  and leaves us with many fond memories. The tappers will sure miss him too! We wish him well in his future plans to move back to New York and give the Big Apple another whirl!!!!

‘TYPHOON JUDY’ WOWS!!! AT WATERFRONT PLAYHOUSE THRU APRIL 13….Only one person could follow the fabulous Drowsy Chaperone that just closed at The Waterfront Playhouse, and that, my friends, is the always amazing CHRISTOPHER PETERSON starring as JUDY GARLAND in this sensational saga written by Christopher and Darrin Hagen….We were thrilled to be a part of the opening night audience on April 5th !!! Christopher as Judy Garland is a marvel!!! Right from the very first Judy grabbed our hearts and didn’t let go. It is simply put….SENSATIONAL!!! It truly is a mesmerizing performance and Christopher knocked it out of the park with his amazing portrayal of this beloved and wounded performer. LE PETIT PARIS RESTAURANT…APRIL 11-14-16….Every Tues., Thurs. & Sun. this gem of a new Key West restaurant has live music. Jazz singer, Peter Diamond and guitarist Tim McAlpine perform lovely music to dine to! Do yourself a favor and try this super place out. Great dinner selections and also breakfast & lunch….open from 8 am to midnight. Tell them I sent you!!! Owner Robert Konopka is creative and enthusiastic and has lots of great ideas….he is open to any suggestions….And great news! Robert has just announced that he has a Wine and Beer License!!!! Great location at 825 Duval St…..FREE parking is a bonus….can dine in or out!

LAST 3 NIGHTS TO SEE ‘TIME STANDS STILL’ APRIL 11,1213!!!!……I want to tell you that we went to see TIME STANDS STILL at The Red Barn on April 2nd and it is a real gem! It will only be presented until April 13th, so I urge you to run…don’t walk to get your tickets. It is a wonderful dramatic play with four outstanding actors…..George diBraud, Dave Bootle, Doug Shook and Amber McDonald-Good. Each actor is perfectly cast in their roles. It is a riveting play about deep friendships and relationships….very real, and sometimes quite painful. The direction, by Joy Hawkins, is first rate. This play should have full houses every night! I hope that these final nights will have every seat occupied! We rose to our feet at the finale….and there I was a basket case, sobbing at the end. It really grabs you…and you learn to love and understand the characters and the pain they have experienced and are still enduring. We stayed afterward to greet the actors and congratulate them on their fabulous performances….and I was still crying as I did all the way home…. that doesn’t happen very often. This was Dave Bootle’s very first ever acting role, and I tell you folks…..this amazing musician is also a superb actor with a great future on the stage! Congratulations to The Red Barn on a sensational presentation!

TENNESSEE WILLIAMS MUSEUM OPENS….This IS a very special NEW Key West tour! The museum is open FREE from Mon. to Sat. 9 am to 5 pm. Congrats to Dennis Beaver & Bert Whitt on this accomplishment! Guided tours are Free and run from noon to 4pm.

CONGRATS TO TIM GREENBERG!!! This fab son of proud parents, Linda & Fred Greenberg, has recently won the very prestigious Peabody Award for journalism for his directing, producing and writing for the comedian DL Hughley’s show on Comedy Central. BOBBY LEAVES THE LOBBY….Yes…I am sad to say….His famously spectacular Bobby in the Lobby Shows as we knew them, will be no longer…..We attended both of his Farewell Shows on April 7 and 8, and they were as splendid as splendid can be! He was joined by Bruce Moore, Carmen Rodriguez, Danny Weathers and Joy Hawkins…..and each was at his/her very best… The sold out audience swooned with adulation and it truly was a love in for Bobby Nesbitt who created this fabulous Concert Series at Tennessee Williams Cabaret. Bobby’s last song of the evening was “Everytime You Say Goodbye, I Die A Little”…and it captured the essence of how we all feel about the ending of these magical shows. But Never Fear Folks! Bobby has another trick up his sleeve and I will be telling you all about it soon!

VALERIE CARR CONCERT ON APRIL 6….We had a great time at this most entertaining and unique Key West Concert! Valerie put this all together….great music with Mike Emerson and Co., Christian Monzon….. plus backup singers, Ruben Navarro and Sophie DeVooght. I am proud to say that Valerie, Ruben and Sophie were all competitors in Aqua Idol for the Waterfront Playhouse and they were all sensational! The full house enjoyed the show immensely….it was well thought out and featured songs from that Other American Songbook…..the one that includes music by Simon & Garfunkle, Leonar Cohen, Billy Joel, Tom Waits, etc. Congratulation to Valerie, who is not only very talented…but has one of the world’s biggest hearts!

With the help of a wonderful donor & the Florida Hearing Loop Systems, our theater goers who are hearing impaired can come to the theater and hear every word onstage!!!! The entire stage picks up sound & transmits it wirelessly to T-Coil enabled hearing aids as well as cochlear implant users. The system also came with loaner portable receivers and headsets for hearing impaired individuals who do not have aids or T-Coil equipped hearing aids. The quality of the system has been tested and the signal is extraordinary!
