Patrick Frost and Friends

Award winning Multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer, Patrick Frost has been captivated by island rhythms since he was four years old and his family moved from Topeka, Kansas to the island of Bermuda.

Having spent those early years in this beautiful tropical setting was to leave a lasting longing for island life and would influence his future artistic endeavors.

Eventually, the Frost family moved to Columbus, Ohio where Patrick began playing Trombone and Piano. While in High School, he spent his summers attending National Stage Band Camps as well as the Berklee College of Music.

Patrick graduated from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio with a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Performance. Continuing his education at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, Patrick obtained a Master of Music in Theory and Composition specializing in Studio Writing and Production.

In 1982 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Wright-Patterson AFB where he was a member of the 661st Air Force Band. In 1985, Patrick began working at Cyberteknics Creative Recording in Dayton, Ohio. His work at Cyberteknics as well as in the Air Force Band gave him a firm foundation in multitrack recording, production and the emerging MIDI technology.

In 1987, he co-founded a production company which specialized in music jingles for radio and TV as well as scoring for corporate film and video.

His music production skills led to a 1989 Blackburn Award for his work on the Dayton Playhouse Production of, "La Cage Aux Folles".  In January of that same year he appeared in Keyboard Magazine's "Discovers" column which previews the work of up and coming Keyboard and Production talent.

After submitting musical scores to Walt Disney World in 1990, Patrick and his wife took a trip to Orlando, Florida and decided to make it their home.

It was during his tenure with the Island Breeze Caribbean band that he began to conjure the island rhythms of his youth.  The time spent working with a variety of musicians from Jamaica, Grenada, Dominica, Antigua, The Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobego indoctrinated him into the world of Reggae, Calypso, Soca and Zouk. It was only a matter of time before he got his first set of Double Tenor Steel Pans.

While in Nassau, Bahamas recording a show for Disney Cruise Lines, the shows producers requested the sound of Conch Shells being blown as a musical fanfare.  As a Brass player, Patrick had the "chops" to play melodies on these Shells. Since then, he has learned to craft instruments from the Shells and plays an assortment of Shells with different fundamental pitches.

His 1997 solo CD entitled, "Everything's Normal Here" is a collection of original music which fuses a multitude of styles including Rock, Jazz, Spoken Word, and more into a concept recording that still sells worldwide.

In 1999, he began to perform a solo act which draws upon all of his skills. He plays Steel Drums, Ukulele, Keyboards, Trombone, Conch Shells and sings to backing tracks that he creates in his home studio.

Patrick has performed and toured with a diverse mix of performers from Jazz legends, Joe Williams, Clark Terry, and Tom Scott to Pop culture icons, Frankie Valli, Little Anthony & the Imperials, Tommy Roe and Tiny Tim.
