Winter Fly Fishing in the Keys with Andy Johnston
We caught this 15 pound Barracuda on a Tarpon Cockroach Fly
with no steel leader!
We were hunting for Permit and found a huge school of Jack Crevalle cruising the flats and busting bait balls. Anthony and his buddy Dylan took full advantage of these
12-15 pounders!
And they scored numerous Double Hook-ups!
Permit are on the flats and when they are happy, they will eat! Jim knows that well, as he scored two Permit in an afternoon!
Tarpon are also available during warm days of Winter, in between cold fronts. Chris did a fine job with this 50 pound Silver King!
Bonefish are sometimes also available during afternoon warm-ups in between cold fronts. This pretty lady caught this Bone, then dropped it into the water with the Boga-Grip still attached to the mouth of the fish! Capt. Dexter saved the Bonefish and his Boga-Grip by diving in for both!! Thus, the wet head is alive and well…
Capt. Dexter Simmons of Key West Fly Fishing is available in late February, March, April, May and June for some excellent fishing for Tarpon, Permit, Bonefish and more!
