We each know all that transpired in our lives. We had to get used to a whole new set of rules and disciplines. People were getting sick and dying…and none of us wanted to become a statistic. So we did everything in our power to stay well, vigilant and safe. The vaccines arrived and we thought that would solve all the problems and our lives would return to ‘normal.’ Suprisingly, millions of people chose not to get vaxxed for various reasons and people continued to get sick and to die. The Delta Variant was a humdinger…. and then Omicron showed up! So much pain…so much anger…so much fear and uncertainty…. These things have dominated our lives. And guess what? We seem to have reached another fork in the road. Omicron got a lot of people sick, but not seriously if you have been vaxxed. Now, is it my imagination or has it kind of been swept away sort of? I feel that this is what we have to deal with for a long long time to come. I pray that the worst is over. Because of the awfulness we have lived through these past 2 years, we realize that things will never be the same as BC…Before Covid! But we all know what we must do to take care of ourselves and others around us. So…. I have been happily attending events and dining and doing all the fun stuff that Key West provides…..but I am always aware… my mask is on hand just in case…. and that’s just the way it is anymore. It is our new way of life. Not Ideal…but better than two years ago. LOTS OF FABULOUS EVENTS HAPPENING IN KEY WEST!!!! MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!! Congrats to producers Jeff Johnson & Hy Conrad….to Bobby Nesbitt, Danny’s dearest friend, who hosted and Created this truly amazing show….to choreographer, Penny Leto, director Murphy Davis, and musical director Jim Rice (and Skipper Kripitz and Joe Dallas too!)…all wonderful! And BIG thanks to Danny’s closest friends who performed…seven coming from far-away places just for their love of Danny Weathers…..Thanks to Bruce Moore, Laurie Breakwell, Mary Falconer, Stephanie Sander, Kristen Michelle Vicki Roush, J.B. McLendon, Marjorie Paul-Shook, Christopher Peterson, Joy Hawkins, and Carmen Rodriguez who wowed a full house of adoring Danny Fans all night long at the Tennessee Williams Theatre. The audience was filled with so many people who came in from ‘all over the world’, just for this show…..We were elated to see Claire Carroll & Steve Gurmin who flew in from England, Pat West, Annie Miners, Cindy Cameron, Mary Borrell & Gene Knudson, Richie Spada, etc. It was wonderful to see Alan Melnick, Dannys’s husband, who flew in from Palm Springs, CA…and big thanks for the complimentary wine bar that he and his canines, Rupert & Maude provided. Danny was one of a kind … Irreplaceable…..he was deeply loved, greatly admired and is missed more than words can say. All who were there last night shared one of those unforgettable evenings that ONLY happens in Key West! How wonderful that the late Danny Weathers brought all of us together once again to share sensational musical entertainment, great joy, and laughter through our tears! THE RED BARN THEATRE…. UPDATE ON THE FRECHETTES……There have been a lot of rumors floating around and I would like to update you on the latest goings on in our life. First of all, our daughter Melissa and husband Jeff Lang have relocated from Chicagoland to Key West. Both are employed and are loving being near us and out of the cold. After 23 years in our wonderful Caroline Street house, we have sold it and planning to downsize here in Key West. Ideally, we want to find a 3 bedroom condo at Key West By the Sea…for many various reasons, we have a special affinity for that complex. (If anyone knows of any place that you think would suit us, let me know if you have a lead. We are exploring other options besides KWBTS.) Although we are downsizing here, we are ‘UP-sizing’ in Ohio. A Century home that we have admired from afar for years went on the market and instead of simplifying, we decided we would ‘complicate’ our life by buying it and restoring it to its once ‘grandeur’ so to speak. So…we bit the bullet…made an offer on it and it was accepted. It is just around the corner from dear Rose Cottage at Chippewa Lake, Ohio. The great thing is that our houseful of antiques here will fit perfectly in this house! So…wish us well as we go on this unorthodox journey and we will keep you informed of our progress.
