KW FRINGE THEATER PRESENTS ‘DINNER’…March 9-10-11…..Bob and I went to see this delish satirical comedy on March 2nd, at The Woman’s Club on Duval St. I must say, we enjoyed it immensely as did the entire very enthusiastic audience! Directed by Peter King and wonderfully acted by Vanessa McCaffrey, Tony Konrath, Tammy Shanley, Melody Moore, Ross Pipkin, Wayne Dapser and PJ King…this is “immersion” theater…up close & personal. The storyline is very intriguing….Paige (Vanessa M) is throwing a dinner party for her husband, Lars (Peter King) & four friends to celebrate his latest book….she pays the waiter $25 thou in cash….the menu is terribly bizarre, each dish chosen to keep with her theme. The Women’s Club is the perfect venue for this production. The dining table is set, with the actors there, in the center of the room literally oblivious that there are audience members in seats along the perimeter of the room, just a heart beat away from them. They are so “immersed” in their roles, they are not even aware that you are in the room observing the goings on at this dinner party. You are taken on a roller coaster ride as you find out the dark surprises Paige has in store for her guests! It is fascinating stuff and super interesting and fun to watch. The Fringe is a great addition to our Key West Theater Community! Congrats to Monnie King who has taken over the reins of Key West Fringe. She has lots of great ideas up her sleeve! I highly recommend this very entertaining evening! Tickets are $25. Next performance nights are..and March 9,10,11. Showtime is 7:30 PM!!! Get tix by going to www.keystix.com or call 295-7676 to reserve! Go to the website at www.keywestfringe.org for more information!

GOD OF CARNAGE AT THE RED BARN… THRU MARCH 10…..This super hilarious play directed by the great Joy Hawkins and starring Mimi McDonald, Bob Bowersox, George Murphy and Annie Miner is wowing the crowds every night! Get your tickets by calling 296-9911 or go to www.redbarntheatre.com. The play is about two couple who meet to discuss an altercation that occurred between their sons. What starts off as a civil repartee, turns out to be a roller coaster of emotions expressed….and the parents start acting more like children then their children! It is a stitch! Congrats, Red Barn!

I AM THANKFUL ON THURSDAY……Every day I try to think of the things that happened during the day in which to give thanks. Today, I want to give thanks for the special memory of the wonderful Katherine Raney who passed away this past Dec. 29 after a long illness. What a truly lovely woman she was…..she was charming, classy, smart, and hilarious. She had a quick wit and a sharp sense of humor and everyone who met her fell under her spell. We met her 12 years ago around Bobby Nesbitt’s piano at the Pier House, as so many of us did. Today, Katherine’s family from Oklahoma, was in town for a Memorial Service, and through the heartfelt talks given by good friends and family members, we were once again reminded of this shining star we loved and whom we will always miss.
