CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR CHARLES LEE…’CHARLIE’  ALLEN, ON DEC. 5, 2021….It is time to remember Charlie, whom we all knew, loved and miss so very much.   The wonderful Charlie Allen who supported ALL the Arts in Key West passed away this year….To honor him….Charlie’s Family invites you to a Celebration of his Rich, Full Life on Dec. 5….at the Key West Armory, 600 White St….. Social hour is 4-5 pm….Celebration Program is 5 to 5:30 pm….Tributes from 5:30-6 pm.   There will be piano music by Frank Wood (Charlie worked the Box Office at Tennessee Williams for many years!) and Tom Thayer, artistic director at The Waterfront Playhouse which Charlie loved.  Vocalists /Actors, David Black and Arthur Crocker  will perform …..and you are asked to bring in some special “Charlie Stories” to share.  Food and Drink will be provided.  Charlie was one of a kind…. CELEBRATION CONCERT FOR DANNY WEATHERS….Tickets will soon be on sale for a Celebration Concert for Danny Weathers on Feb. 27, 2022.   Jeff Johnson and Hy Conrad are producing this sure to be wonderful show to honor Danny.  It will be held at the Tennessee Williams Theatre and will star Danny’s many sensational friends and entertainers.  Directing this concert will be Murphy Davis….and,  Danny’s dear and long-time friend, Bobby Nesbitt, will be co ordinating and organizing this Event.  Tix will be obtained by going to www.keystix.com when the official announcement comes out.  This Concert will benefit the Florida Keys SPCA…The Animal Shelter.

AUDITIONS FOR FRINGE’S CONCH REPUBLIC THE MUSICAL!!!…A Video must be emailed by November 15.  This is how it will be conducted …. Just use your phone to create an audition video with a 1 minute humorous monologue and 16-32 bars of you singing anything….(a capella is fine)….Send this audition Video to info@fringetheater.org.  This wonderful and endearing show will be presented April 19-24..looking for 4 men and 1 woman…who can sing and play multiple roles.  All you actors out there….. get those videos made and send in NOW!!!!!  This musical is a real Key West Classic!!!!  And special thanks to Gayla Morgan and Monnie King who co-created it, and to Rebecca Tomlinson, Artistic Director of the Fringe who keeps it alive!!!!

GAIL LIMA’S FATHER PASSES AWAY….. Special friend, Gail Lima, lost her beloved father, Fred Lima on Oct. 31, 2021.  He was 94.  Gail was the firstborn of a 11 children.  She, a devoted daughter, was, of course, by his side as he departed.   Last year she lost her beautiful Mother.   If you are in Ohio, there will be a Wake on Nov. 3 from 3-7 pm at McGorray-Hanna Funeral Home on Center Ridge Rd. in Westlake, Ohio…the funeral is Nov. 4 at 9:30 am at St. Mary of the Falls at 25615 Bagley Rd., Olmsted Falls, Ohio.  You can send Gail messages of sympathy to her at: 3635 Seaside Dr., #102, Key West, FL 33040.  I also recently heard that Key West lost Stephen ‘Woody’ Cornell on Oc. 22, 2021.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Gail and her family and also Woody’s family and friends.

AQUA IDOL POSTPONED ONCE AGAIN….  We had very high hopes that we would be able to finish the Waterfront Playhouse 2020 Aqua Idol in November, but after talking it over with Shawn Clark, Mgr. at Aqua, it has been decided that we once again, would have to shelve this event until further notice.  This is a MAJOR Disappointment, but the care of our contestants and our audience members is key, and we cannot yet enforce the safety precautions at Aqua that we are able to enforce at our Theater.  It also means that at this point, we will not restart a new Idol in January either.  Stay tuned.  Truly, at the time, I felt everyone would be vaxxed and we could all get on with living again…. but with so many still not vaxxed… how can we subject our vocalists to this?  Don’t forget our  Final Magnificent 7 ….. I am starting this by saying that some of my best friends are Scorpios….as well as my very best friend, my dear husband Bob! They are an amazing group….terrific company and possess a fantastic sense of humor.
