THE MERRY MONTH OF MAY!!!

MAY 2nd THRU MAY 8TH , IN KEY WEST, WITH LYNDA

DEATH TRAP OPENS AT WATERFRONT ON MAY 2….Looks like we may be paddling a boat to the Waterfront Playhouse for opening night of DeathTrap at 8 pm tonight!  But we shall be there ‘Oar’ else!!!!  Written by award-winning author, Ira Levin, directed by Bob Bowersox and set design by Michael Boyer…this fabulous comey/mystery is guaranteed to make your spine tingle and will take you on more twists and turns than you can imagine!  The great cast consists of David Black, Mark Watson, Mary Falconer, Chris Stone, and Geno Drum.  There is an after  party sponsored by Jack Paul.  The show will run Tues. thru Sat. until May 18th.  Call the box office at 294-5015 or go to www.waterfrontplayhouse.org for tickets.  You will NOT want to miss this show!  Those who have seen it on these last two preview nights have been raving about it!  What a great play to finish an outstandingly brilliant Waterfront Playhouse Theater Season!  Congrats to Danny Weathers, Michael Boyer, the Staff and the Board members!!!

IF YOU HOLD TIX FOR MAY 2’S OPENING….If you hold tix for Death Trap tonight, and are not able to use them, PLEASE notify the box office at 294-5015 to let them know.  Thanks!

OKLAHOMA SMITH ON MAY 2,3,4….at RED BARN THEATRE…..We saw this show on Wed. night and had a blast as did everyone in the opening night audience. In fact, I am still walking around the house and laughing! This show is ‘properly’ called “OKLAHOMA SMITH & THE PANTHEON OF ANNIHILATION”…It is an original comedy written and directed jointly by Mike Marrero & Chris Shultz, and they were happily given free reign with their story line….Needless to say, they took FULL advantage of it. The actors are all perfect in their roles and each is hysterically funny!! Landon Bradbury, Erin McKenna, Chad Newman, Carolyn Cooper, Brandon Beach and Pony Charvet had us in stitches all night long! A super ensemble cast! They took us on a journey and what a wild and wacky ride it was! It is like Indiana Jones ended up in the Cukoo’s Nest! One of the unique aspects of this production, is that audience members are given choices of plot lines for various scenes…and they are asked which one to choose. This proves to be quite hilarious as you will see. And subsequently, no two shows will ever be exactly the same. This show runs every Tues. thru Sat. until May 25th. Get tix by going to www.redbarntheatre.com or call the box office at 296-9911. If you are in the mood for some hilarity and fun in your life, you MUST SEE this show. Congrats to the Red Barn on this delighful final chapter in their 2012-13 Theatre season! Also want to mention that the set design by Gary McDonald is perfect for this show! (So great seeing Jean Carper, Betty Hanes, Jack Paul,  Heather Mae and David,  the Cawleys, Sherry Sweet-Tewell, Keith Strickland, Mark Hayda, John Jurkowski, and so many others laughing along with us!!!!)

CONCH REPUBLIC THE MUSICAL… A MUST SEE….MAY 2 & 5…..This rollicking musical presented by the FRINGE Theater is a marvelous delight! With the book written by Monnie King and the music/lyrics by Gayla Morgan, they have created a real gem of a show…capturing the quirks and oddities that make Key West the very unique, wacky and wonderful place we all know and love! We saw it on April 25 and the crowd loved every minute of it! The cast is terrific! Starring are Michael Aaglan, Kyle Caskey, Laurie Breakwell, Michael McCabe, Tony Konrath, Matt Hulsey, Annie Miners, and BILLY CARTLEDGE…..you can tell that these characters are having a great time onstage! That stage is Kelly’s Caribbean Upstairs, 301 Whitehead St. and it suits the musical very nicely! This cast play various KW personalities like Virginia Panico, Ed Swift, Dennis Wardlow, etc. It is a hoot as we see them deal with the hilarious “concerns” the Island has. Think Community Voice on Crack! I must mention BILLY CARTLEDGE…..He is a dear friend, who has never acted or sang in a show since fifth grade….and he is having the time of his life playing BUBBA….a compilation of many of the KW Bubbas we all know here! You will LOVE his portrayal as well as everyone else’s in this MUST SEE show! THE TAURUS PERSONALITY….APRIL 21 THROUGH MAY 21…..

People know they can trust a Taurus, for they are reliable, faithful, practical, and people to turn to in a crisis. They can be counted on! Although they are steadfast, they are also very resistant to the idea of change. It makes them feel nervous…as if everything is going to collapse around them! Taureans always take a long time to get used to any major alterations in their life, and they they can feel dislocated by change. As a result, they tend to slip into routines that quickly become ruts, as they would rather know what each day will bring, even though it is boring or tedious…than risk getting upset when their regular schedule is disturbed.

Taureans take things slow….preferring to do things in their own time and in their own way, and often turn a deaf ear to anyone who may try to persuade them otherwise. They have tremendous determination and will power but this can turn into that stubborn streak that Taureans are famous for. Nothing will change their mind; people can go blue in the face trying to reason with them, but they just won’t listen!

Taureans do need their sense of self-worth and they associate their possessions as status symbols. The problem with this, is that they often become hemmed in by their possessions as they start to rule their lives. Letting go and simplifying is not an easy task for a Taurean!

The Taurus is the one least likely to lose their temper over trifles. They grit their teeth and give others the benefit of the doubt over and over again…until things go TOO far, and then they blow their top! This is a frightening experience for everyone around when this happens….so look out!

Family means the world to a Taurean and they devote lots of time to their nearest and dearest. They enjoy keeping up long standing tradition especially at the holidays. They are loyal, loving and steadfast, which endears them to anyone who likes to know that their affection won’t be tossed away. They make adoring friends and they usually have a select circle of very close friends that they have know for a long time rather than a wide range of acquaintances. It takes a Taurean quite some time to get to know people properly and others have to earn a Taurean’s trust…but once they’ve done that, the Taurean becomes the sort of pal who will stand by them through thick and thin. This love and affection sometimes turns into a tendency to be possessive however. The best signs for a Taurus are Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces.

In careers, the Taurean loves to work and are good solid members of any team…they get the job done. They may not do it very quickly as others but they keep at it and don’t cut corners. They are not interested in self-employment, but if they do decide to work for themselves that will try their hardest to make a go of it. They are attracted to work in finance, banking, and investments. Also, the beauty industry appeals to them as they are one of the best looking signs of the Zodiac, They make great models, masseurs, perfumiers. They love professions connected with nature, farming, gardening or floristry. Because many are blessed with lovely voices, they are drawn to the music industry and singing, particularly.
