THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING ERNEST!

JULY 19 THRU JULY 23, etc., 2012, in KEY WEST WITH LYNDA!!!!

I AM THANKFUL FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT!!!!!……Why, pray tell? There we were, sitting at Aqua Nightclub listening to the always great music of Bobby Nesbitt, and who should walk through the door to surprise me, but BRUCE MOORE!!!!! Turns out he decided to fly in from PA and be in town for my July 20th birthday!!!!!! I am SO thankful that he did this…..and that both my husband, Bob, and Bobby Nesbitt, both knew he was planning to come, and they kept the secret! It truly was the best ever surprise and the evening got better. After Aqua, we headed for Square One Restaurant and were joined by Bunnie & Jack, Mary Ellen & Clayton, Jimmy Olson, and Blake Hunter, and we enjoyed a yummy dinner! When the bill arrived, we found that the entire bill had been taken care of by the wonderful Blake Hunter…..and we were all touched by his kindness (as we always are!!!!) and generosity! The next event was at Lateda, where we enjoyed Christopher Peterson’s dress rehearsal of TYPHOON JUDY, which he created with Darrin Hagen. So….there it was….A Wednesday to be very thankful for on Thankful Thursday!!!!!! It was a WOW!!

THANKFUL ON THURSDAY FOR LOIS KLINE……I give Thanks for the wonderful opportunity to have known the glorious LOIS KLINE, who sadly, passed away on Tuesday, July 17th. Key West has lost a bit of its color!!!! We have many special Queens in Key West…..but Lois was a true Queen of Key West! Tiny in stature, but enormous in personality, she towered over most people with her intelligence, humor, and heart. One of the great supporters of talent and the arts, she was a rarity here. She was a Conch who went to every show at every venue in town…at the Waterfront Playhouse, Tennessee Williams, Red Barn, etc. You could count on Lois aka LoLo, to be there…. bringing her great friends, Velma and Nonie and sister Sissy with her! She was a dynamo…..who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and tell it like it is. In another lifetime, she could have been an entertainer herself…. She was hilarious, and was able to say exactly what people were thinking but were afraid to say themselves. If you were a recipient of her sensational Christmas Letters, you know what I mean…..they were treasures, as Lois was. We would read them and laugh until we cried. Most recently she wrote a letter that was published in Conch Color. It was hysterical. She could have given any stand-up comic or writers like Erma Bombeck and Nora Ephron a run for their money. I am one of many in this town who will miss LOIS KLINE all the days of my life. I am thankful for having known her and to be able to call her Friend! Lois will live forever in our hearts.

YOU’VE GOT HATE MAIL AT RED BARN….THRU JULY 22…..We were at opening night of this show on Tuesday, and it was quite a romp! First of all, I want to congratulate Bob Bowersox, who was intent on bringing terrific edgy theatre to Key West in the summer when most theatres are dark. Last week he was fantastic in TALK RADIO…..and this week he directed ‘YOU’VE GOT HATE MAIL’…starring Quincy Perkins, Laurie Breakwell, Erin McKenna, Tammy Shanley and Jack Terry. It was great fun…hilarity prevailed non-stop! It dealt with these 5 characters whose lives interacted with one another…who spent lots of time on the internet, sending e-mails back and forth….and the problems they encountered along the way. When you send an e-mail sent to one person, and somehow you send it to someone else in error, all hell can break loose….and it does with lots of consequences and lots of laughs! This show will be presented only until July 21…..so call TheatreXP at 302-540-6102 to reserve your seat. You will not want to miss this show! Note that next week,, from July 24 to 28, The Seafarer will be presented and stars Michael Aaglan, Justin Ahearn, Bob Bowersox, Pony Charvet, and Quincy Perkins. I hear it will blow your “Bowersox” off!!!!

FAST BUCK FREDDIE’S POP-UP GALLERY OPENS NOW OPEN…..The fabulous Fast Buck’s as we knew it is gone….(and the memory will ALWAYS linger on!!!) but it has re-opened as a Pop-Up Gallery!
