THURSDAY, MAY 26TH, 2011, in KEY WEST WITH LYNDA!!!!
I AM VERY THANKFUL…… ……. That we had the opportunity to go to Washington DC to see Terri White star in, and ‘steal-the-show’ in FOLLIES at The Kennedy Center. I am thankful for our perfect hosts, Bunnie Smith and Jack Paul, whom we stayed with at their lovely Arlington, VA home. So thankful to get to see so many DC hi-lights, thanks to Jack who was a great tour guide. We are thankful to have had lunch at the delightful Reston, VA home of Diane May, with Donna Barnett & Terri White……and to have had a delicious evening at the charming Annapolis, MD home of Neal Ruchman with dinner at his Yacht Club. What a sweetheart Neal is, and he went all out to roll out the red carpet for us, and it was special seeing Leslie too! We are thankful to have had the chance to see some marvelous FOLLIES performances, in addition to Terri White’s, like the dashing Ron Raines, Bernadette Peters, Elaine Paige, Jan Maxwell, Danny Burstein, and so many others. I am also very thankful that we got to see SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM, the night before FOLLIES, at an Arlington theater….it was absolutely wonderful! Truly, it was a totally fabulous Sondheim weekend, and we are most thankful to have been there and to have enjoyed it with Bunnie, Jack, Billy Cartledge, Jim Hall, Diane May, Kate Miano, Ron Maranian, Abby Moore, and of course Terri White and Donna Barnett! It was also a real thrill to meet Placido Damingo! I am thankful for our sensational friend, Bobby Nesbitt, who took care of our naughty cat Purr-Lee while we were gone. And, as wonderful and memorable as the entire trip was, I am thankful that we can always return home to Key West….truly the best, most magical place to be! Last but never least, I give thanks that I got to experience it all with Bob. He is my knight in shining armor!!!!

Prayer changes things!!!! Let me know if anyone should be added to this list…a family member or a friend going through tough times. We really are all in this thing called ‘Life” together.
FRANK ROMANO….. We were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of the wonderful and very dear, Frank Romano, while we were away. He was a true Key West Legend, a great supporter of the Arts and everything in Key West. We loved Frank and will miss him very much! Our thoughts and prayers are with Joe Liszka, Kim Romano, his Family and all the friends whom Frank touched in so many special ways.
MEMORIAL FOR BILLY SIMS (AKA SHARKY THOMAS)..MAY 26TH…. This talented musician passed away unexpectedly last week. There will be a Memorial at Willie T’s on Duval St. (next to Walgreen’s), where Billy performed regularly, today, Thursday, at 5:00 pm. It is also a fundraiser to benefit Billy’s daughter and to defray funeral expenses. All invited!
HELP KEY WEST HIGH SCHOOL WITH OPERATION GRADUATION….$4 thou needed…. Thus far $16,000 has been collected for Operation Graduation for the senior class…an all night event providing a safe, alcohol & drug free celebration….a night of music, dancing, movies, games, fun and food. Everyone is asked to help, as it takes a great effort to make this happen. However….it takes $4,000 MORE DOLLARS for this event to be put on. If the money isn’t raise the event will be cancelled. If everyone on my list contributed $15. Each, we could say we gave our graduating seniors a wonderful and safe time! Think about it….and send whatever you can to this Fund! Perhaps if your org wants to do something on behalf of the kids, you can put on a fundraiser. BOBBY NESBITT AT THE GARDENS ON MAY 26….. That suave and debonair, Bobby Nesbitt, makes a handsome figure at the gleaming white Grand piano at The Gardens every Thursday, from 5:30 to 9:00 PM! Great place for popping in for a pre-dinner or after-dinner drink while listening to Bobby sing your fave songs from the Great American Songbook…or to spend the whole evening!!! The fabulous D’Vine Wine Gallery is open from Wed. thru Sun. from 5 to 10 pm every week. On Sunday, May 29th, it’s JAZZ in the GARDENS from 5:30 to 8 pm……this Sunday with Lenore Troia and Friends…We love Lenore and her wonderful music!
