DEATHTRAP AT THE WATERFRONT THRU MAY 18….On May 2nd, DEATHTRAP opened at the Waterfront Playhouse!!!!……Miraculously, the rain went away, the sun came out and it turned out to be another wonderful evening in Paradise! Of course one of those reasons was because DEATHTRAP opened…and it was smashing! Written by award-winning author, Ira Levin, directed by Bob Bowersox and with an stupendously jaw-dropping set design by Michael Boyer & costumes design by Leigh Hooten…..this fabulous comedy/mystery took us on a Mystery Joy Ride that had the sold out audience on the edge of their seats! The truly great cast consists of David Black, Mark Watson, Mary Falconer, Chris Stone and Geno Drum. They do an amazing job!!!! This is one of those shows that is full of surprises so I cannot reveal too much, but only to say WOW!!!!! It’s like you are at a Fun House and are constantly getting shocked in some way or other! I LOVED every second!!! The after party sponsored by Jack Paul, and catered by Jennifer Cornell of Small Chef at Large was exceptional…..one of the best ever! OKLAHOMA SMITH….at RED BARN THEATRE MAY 8-MAY 12…..We saw this show and had a blast as did everyone in the opening night audience. In fact, I am still walking around the house and laughing! This show is ‘properly’ called “OKLAHOMA SMITH & THE PANTHEON OF ANNIHILATION”…It is an original comedy written and directed jointly by Mike Marrero & Chris Shultz… The actors are all perfect in their roles and each is hysterically funny!! Landon Bradbury, Erin McKenna, Chad Newman, Carolyn Cooper, Brandon Beach and Pony Charvet had us in stitches all night long! A super ensemble cast! They took us on a journey and what a wild and wacky ride it was! It is like Indiana Jones ended up in the Cukoo’s Nest! One of the unique aspects of this production, is that audience members are given choices of plot lines for various scenes…and they are asked which one to choose. This proves to be quite hilarious as you will see. And subsequently, no two shows will ever be exactly the same. This show runs every Tues. thru Sat. until May 25th. CLAYTON BEATTIE HAS KNEE SURGERY….Our dear friend, Clayton Beattie, had knee replacement surgery on May 2 at St. Mary’s Hospital in West Palm Beach, FL. He is doing very well….still has much pain, but I hear he has the nurses dancing around him!!! He is going through rehab/therapy. Please send him good vibes as he and Mary Ellen deal with this. CONCH REPUBLIC THE MUSICAL… A MUST SEE….MAY 9 & 12…..This rollicking musical presented by the FRINGE Theater is a marvelous delight! With the book written by Monnie King and the music/lyrics by Gayla Morgan, they have created a real gem of a show…capturing the quirks and oddities that make Key West the very unique, wacky and wonderful place we all know and love! We saw it on April 25 and the crowd loved every minute of it! The cast is terrific! Starring are Michael Aaglan, Kyle Caskey, Laurie Breakwell, Michael McCabe, Tony Konrath, Matt Hulsey, Annie Miners, and BILLY CARTLEDGE…..you can tell that these characters are having a great time onstage! That stage is Kelly’s Caribbean Upstairs, 301 Whitehead St. and it suits the musical very nicely! This cast play various KW personalities like Virginia Panico, Ed Swift, Dennis Wardlow, etc. It is a hoot as we see them deal with the hilarious “concerns” the Island has. Think Community Voice on Crack! I must mention BILLY CARTLEDGE…..He is a dear friend, who has never acted or sang in a show since fifth grade….and he is having the time of his life playing BUBBA….a compilation of many of the KW Bubbas we all know here! They are entitled#1…. WEEDS about the infamous Bum Farto and Peggy Mills & their ongoing feud about a Royal Poinciana Tree. Bob Perlow as Bum and Janeen Gracer as Peggy are outstanding in their roles! It is written by Tony Konrath and Vanessa McCaffrey and it is a delight! #2 play is called “MARION ALERT’, written by Toby Armour…and concerns the ‘in your face character,’ Marion Stevens and the complex and difficult yet flamboyant person she was, and what she did for the Arts in Key West. It stars Tammy Shanley as Marion, and Kitty Clements as her alter ego…kind of like her constant ‘voice in Marion’s head’….and both actresses are super terrific!!!! KEY WEST SONGWRITER’S FESTIVAL……Thanks to Kathy & Steve Russ who are avid fans, they got us going to some of these events and we have been having a great time! Last night we enjoyed Paul Overstreet (4 time Songwriter of the Year Grammy winner) and Even Stevens who has written so many amazing songs…(think I Love a Rainy Night by Eddie Rabbit and more!!!)…The surprise of the night for me was when this handsome young man was called to sing…Overstreet’s son, who just happens to be on GLEE on TV. Had my photo taken with him and all. Oh to be 20 again!

THE TAURUS PERSONALITY….APRIL 21 THROUGH MAY 21…..

People know they can trust a Taurus, for they are reliable, faithful, practical, and people to turn to in a crisis. They can be counted on! Although they are steadfast, they are also very resistant to the idea of change. It makes them feel nervous…as if everything is going to collapse around them! Taureans always take a long time to get used to any major alterations in their life, and they they can feel dislocated by change. As a result, they tend to slip into routines that quickly become ruts, as they would rather know what each day will bring, even though it is boring or tedious…than risk getting upset when their regular schedule is disturbed.

Taureans take things slow….preferring to do things in their own time and in their own way, and often turn a deaf ear to anyone who may try to persuade them otherwise.
