IF YOU SEE ME SMILING MOORE THAN USUAL….. Hey folks! My dear friend, Bruce Moore, is returning to Key West for a while! (Hopefully we can talk him into staying forever!) Anyway, he has a couple of projects to do in Key West….and besides, this is not the time to be auditioning in NYC….soooo…..he has decided to return to Key West. Besides, he really has been missing Key West, and all his friends, including mois, Bobby and all the Tappers, and then some! Hey Tappers…..Interested in going to class on Saturday morning at 11 am? Let me know and we can make that happen? E-mail me with your answer!!!! Let us all give Brucie a real Key West Welcome HOME!!!!!!!!

 

ARTIST JEFFREY BEAL….. I was saddened to hear about the passing of artist Jeffrey Beal on May 22. He was a beloved artist and his wonderful art works and hand-painted furniture graces some of Key West’s finest homes. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends and all those who loved him. For information call 828-275-3020.

 

FRANK ROMANO MEMORIAL ON FRI., JUNE 3^RD….. A celebration of the wonderful life of the beloved, FRANK ROMANO, will be held at 4 PM on June 3^rd, at The Tennessee Williams Theatre at 5901 College Rd. on Stock Island. Everyone is invited to attend. Frank was a true Key West Legend, a great supporter of the Arts and everything in Key West. We loved Frank and will miss him very much! Our thoughts and prayers are with Joe Liszka, Kim Romano, his Family and all the friends whom Frank touched in so many special ways.

JAZZ JAMS AT THE PIER HOUSE….MAY 30….. The Larry Smith Jazz Jams will be held at 9 pm on Monday night….featuring Skipper Kripitz and Tim McAlpine! All instrumentalists and vocalists and listeners are invited to participate! Larry is at the piano at 7 pm…..

 

HELP KEY WEST HIGH SCHOOL WITH OPERATION GRADUATION….$4 thou needed…. Thus far $16,000 has been collected for Operation Graduation for the senior class…an all night event providing a safe, alcohol & drug free celebration….a night of music, dancing, movies, games, fun and food. Everyone is asked to help, as it takes a great effort to make this happen. However….it takes $4,000 MORE DOLLARS for this event to be put on. If the money isn’t raise the event will be cancelled. If everyone on my list contributed $15. Each, we could say we gave our graduating seniors a wonderful and safe time! Think about it….and send whatever you can to this Fund! Perhaps if your org wants to do something on behalf of the kids, you can put on a fundraiser. AT THE GARDENS ON SUNDAY….. So fun to be at The Gardens…..Lenore Troia was performing along with Gordy Michael and friends, and they sounded marvelous! What a super crowd….so wonderful to see Larry and Don from Cincy, plus Bunnie, Jack, Mary Ellen, the Angermanns, the Cawleys, the Covans, Mary Jo, Keith Strickland, Ron Maranian, Cindy, Donna, the Brewsters, Terri and Phil, and SO many others…..it was a full house at The Gardens….and it always a thrill to have Queen Katie presiding over all the festivities!

 

A PUN FOR YOU… I’ve made up my mind to re-lay my lawn. It was a turf decision!

 

BOBBY AT THE GARDENS ON JUNE 2….. The fabulous D’Vine Wine Gallery is open from Wed. thru Sun. from 5 to 10 pm every week. The marvelously talented, Bobby Nesbitt performs in the Conservatory on June 2^nd from 5:30 to 9 pm! There are wonderful new tables and chairs indoors at The Gardens….a perfect way to enjoy Bobby!!!!!

 

JOSEPH LOWE CONCERT AT ST. PAUL’S EVERY WEEKDAY…..Mon.-Fri. Joe Lowe presents his FREE piano and organ concert from Mon. thru Fri. from noon to 1 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Duval & Eaton St.

CHRISTOPHER PETERSON….HE’S BA-A-ACK! And aren’t we glad????? We caught Christopher Peterson’s EYECONS show on Friday night, along with a full house of adoring fans, and we never stopped smiling and laughing! He is one-of-a-kind, and Key West is blessed to have him back. He will be performing on Friday and Saturday nights in the Crystal Room,,,this coming June 3 and 4, at 9 pm in the Crystal Room at LaTeDa!!!! Call 296-6706 for reservations!

 

 

AUDITIONS FOR ‘AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY’ AT WATERFRONT…MAY 31….. Director & Artistic Director, Danny Weathers will be holding auditions for ‘August: Osage County” the Pulitzer Prize & Tony award-winning play which will be presented at the Waterfront Playhouse, Dec. 20 thru Jan 14. Auditions for this drama take place from 5 to 8 pm at the Waterfront Playhouse on Mallory Square. Needed are experienced actors….6 men and 7 women. AQUA NIGHTCLUB…MAY 30………. It’s Randy Thompson in Dueling Bartenders, with either Rick Dery or JB McLendon at 5:30 pm…..great singing duels every Monday evening! The Aquanettes are live onstage doing 2 shows on Friday & Saturday, at 9 and 11 PM, and 1 9:00 PM show on Sunday! Sure was super seeing Randy T and Mark Watson in the audience for Christopher’s show the other night. Made Bob and me think of how much we really miss Broadway 3 Ways!!!!!

MEMORIAL SERVICE AT KW CEMETERY…MAY 30… A Memorial Service will be held at 9 am Monday at the USS Maine/Winslow plot at the Cemetery. Presented by the Navy League KW Council & Naval Air Station KW…..all invited to pay homage to the US military service members who died while serving our country!

 

 

SURVIVOR’S PARTY PM MAY 30^TH….. This 34^th annual event is on Memorial Day from 4 pm to sunset at The Southernmost Beach Café, 1405 Duval St. Food, cash bar, silent auction, raffles….$20 is the entrance fee…all proceeds go to benefit the sister Season Fund.
