FRANK ROMANO MEMORIAL ON FRI., JUNE 3^RD….. A celebration of the wonderful life of the beloved, FRANK ROMANO, will be held at 4 PM on June 3^rd, at The Tennessee Williams Theatre at 5901 College Rd. on Stock Island. Everyone is invited to attend. Frank was a true Key West Legend, a great supporter of the Arts and everything in Key West. We loved Frank and will miss him very much! Our thoughts and prayers are with Joe Liszka, Kim Romano, his Family and all the friends whom Frank touched in so many special ways.

ADOPT A CAT MONTH IN KEY WEST…..ALL OF JUNE!!!! ‘It’s raining CATS’ at The Florida Keys SPCA, so they are designating June as Adopt a Cat Month….. all thru June cats and kittens can be adopted for FREE, thanks to an anonymous donor! They all come complete with vaccinations, are spayed or neutered, and micro-chipped! There are SO many felines at the SPCA that they hope you will take full advantage of this FREE offer and make rooms in your homes and hearts for a sweet pet! Call 294-4857 for more info. HELP KEY WEST HIGH SCHOOL WITH OPERATION GRADUATION….$4 thou needed…. Thus far $16,000 has been collected for Operation Graduation for the senior class…an all night event providing a safe, alcohol & drug free celebration….a night of music, dancing, movies, games, fun and food. Everyone is asked to help, as it takes a great effort to make this happen. However….it takes $4,000 MORE DOLLARS for this event to be put on. If the money isn’t raised, the event will probably have to be cancelled. If everyone on my list contributed $15. Each, we could say we gave our graduating seniors a wonderful and safe time! Think about it….and send whatever you can to this Fund! Perhaps if your org wants to do something on behalf of the kids, you can put on a fundraiser. BOBBY AT THE GARDENS LAST NIGHT….. The marvelously talented, Bobby Nesbitt had a full house at The Gardens last night! So great to see, Eric Haley, Eloise Keiser, Robin Robinson, Don Booth, Sheila Taylor, Deb Goldman, Lynn Sherman, Mike Mulligan, Nancy Thiel, the Nashville Nurses, Skip Drezner and Sharon Mondo, and especially David Case of Sarabeth’s and his partner, Doug! They were there celebrating David’s birthday and they both looked ‘WONDERFUL!’ Great music in a beautiful setting….All this and Heaven too! The D’vine Wine Gallery is open from Wed. thru Sun. from 5 to 10 pm every week! So great to have the divine Terry Paulson, aka Smyrna Emphysema, working at the Gardens in the Wine Gallery! He is such a charmer!!!!

SWIM AROUND KEY WEST ON JUNE 4^TH……. More than 140 swimmers will compete in the 35^th annual Swim Around Key West on Sat., 6.4…competitors from 21 states and also international swimmers. There are solo and relay participants. The event starts and ends at the west end of Smathers Beach on the Atlantic side…starts at 9:30 am with official start at 10 am. PRIDE FEST FILM FESTIVAL ON JUNE 9….. The new 2011 documentary, ‘Making the Boys,’ which revisits the stage & film versions of ‘The Boys in the Band,’ receives its KW premiere on Thurs., June 9 at The Tropic Cinema, 416 Eaton St. at 6 pm! To refresh you on the film, on June 8, the actual movie from 1970 will be shown at the Tropic at 6 pm. Both presentations are offered FREE to the public. This is an impactful documentary with interviews from original cast members…there will be a live Q & A vido-conference with filmmaker Crayton Robey. On Friday, June 10, the film, ‘And the Band Played On’ will be presented at 6 pm.
