Marjorie Paul-Shook’s dear Mother, Mabel Paul, has been under the weather for awhile and everyone has been quite concerned! But I just heard from Margie, that the problem has been diagnosed, taken care of, and Mabel is on the mend! That is great news! Mabel will soon be back Home in Key West. THE PEOPLE’S THEATER OF KEY WEST…
…is looking for actors with good memories who are quick on their feet to fill several roles in the reprisal of NIGHT OF JANUARY 16TH, a courtroom drama that was a BIG Hit in KW during its first run at St. Paul’s Hall. The reprisal will run at Downstage, PTKW’s new venue at 3340 N Roosevelt from Aug. 19 to the 22…and then again Aug. 26-29….They are looking for the following types: A man or woman of any age to play a Bailiff/Clerk…..
a man of any age as character John Hutchins, a Security Guard….And a man 50-60 yrs. old to be John Graham Whitfield, Financier.

Florence Recher, Grand Dame of the Waterfront Playhouse, sent me her answer about preferring to be blind or deaf…”I have thought of this often, as I have an eye and a hearing problem. Please, I say, that my eyes continue to function as long as I live. Loss of hearing I can deal with. Eyes see the world…the day…sunlight…you can read, walk, greet people, and generally live an almost normal life. With hearing loss, you miss the music (which would still sing in your heart & mind)…voices, daily sounds of life…and the words I LOVE YOU….but I would still prefer to have my eyesight.”

…have been on the road, traveling, and they came to see us here at Rose Cottage in Chippewa Lake last night. We had a great visit…..they had their adorable doggie, Prada, with them and it was interesting to watch Purr-Lee, our cat’s, reaction to having another animal in the house. They got to watch a beautiful Chippewa Lake sunset, which rival those of Key West, I want you to know!

SCHOONER WHARF BATTLE OF THE BARS REPORT…
This Annual Contest raised $23,870. for local charities Key West Wildlife Center & The Sister Season Fund…the overall total is now $215,528 during the Battle’s History! 39 Teams of 7 persons per team competed….”Raw Bar Rowdies” from the Half Shell won for the 5th time….2nd was The Coral Reefers from Margaritaville, and 3rd place went to Dante’s Los Diablos Team. Most Outrageous costume for the 4th year in a row went to Sebago Watersports and their Circus/Freak show theme….2nd to TGIF…Honorable mention to Southernmost Beach Cafe and Hard Rock Cafe! A big thank you to Evalena Worthington and all who sponsored and worked so hard for this event! Congrats to ALL!
