RICHARD STEPHENS IS THANKFUL ON THURSDAY…… ‘that my father, Will Stephens, who is recovering from hip surgery and, who is in the rehab center next to the hospital, seems to be getting stronger, not weaker. I am thankful that he is now sharing a room with a very nice man who promises to look after dad when I am not there. I would ask that if you have the time, that you come and visit Dad in Room 111, late in the afternoon or in the early evening, as he is otherwise in physical therapy sessions. Thanks to all of you who will take the time to visit. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers….and if you want to make Dad happy, please send him a card at Key West Health & Rehab Center, 5860 College Rd., Stock Island, FL 33040…..or at 1124 Von Phister St., KW, 33040. I am deeply thankful for my dear Father.’

The Waterfront Playhouse proudly opens the 2011/12 season with the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play “August: Osage County” by Tracy Letts. This epic masterpiece will once again raise the bar for the Waterfront, which was named The Best Professional Theater in Florida by Florida Monthly Magazine, now two years in a row.
Directed by Danny Weathers, “August” has a cast of 13 that is arguably one of the best ensembles ever gathered on a Key West stage. They will portray three generations of an Oklahoma clan caught up in one bitch of a reunion. The New York Times raved “’August’ is the most exciting new American play Broadway has seen in years.”
Two low-priced preview performances will be on December 20th and 21st. Opening night is December 22nd with an after party sponsored by Bunnie Smith. Curtain is 7:30 pm. The production is sponsored by KEY TV.
