STILL THANKFUL OVER THE WEEKEND!

I sure am thankful to have had some very heartfelt responses to my request to share personal reasons of why you may be thankful!  I plan to print those that are especially lovely…so keep these coming in!  I want to say what I am very thankful for today…..read on…

 

DONNA ROLL’S OPERAFEST!!!!

I have to say, how very , very thankful I am to Donna Roll, for bringing this sensational group of  young singers to Key West.  Tonight, at 7:30 PM, we were royally treated to an evening of gorgeous music….singers that touch your very soul….If you have not had the opportunity to enjoy one of these concerts in town, run, do not walk, to the next one!  The amazing thing is that these concerts are mostly for Free!  Tonight’s was at the Key West Methodist Church on Eaton and Simonton Sts.  It was wonderful to see familiar faces, Lois Kline, Trine Nielson and her husband, Rob Carlson, Liz Young, Connie Gilbert, Kyla & Matt Piscopinck, Vincent Zito, Joyce Heels, Rob McKeage, Nancy Forrester, and so many others.  Trust me…we were all Blown Away with what was presented tonight.  We were especially pleased to enjoy locals, Dean Walters, Ralph Garcia, and Brad Richards!  What tremendously gifted individuals…ALL performing in our teeny tiny Island Paradise!  We are blessed!  Read More….

The Next OperaFest in Key West will be Wed. June 23rd at 7:30 PM, at St. Mary’s Church (FREE). 

Another on Fri., June 25, at the Methodist Church on Eaton St. at 7:30 PM, (FREE)…and one on….

Sat., June 26th at The Waterfront Playhouse at 8:30 PM….This is $25 and is a Benefit for the Waterfront Playhouse.  Call 294-5015 for tickets.

MARY JO DA SILVA….

…Keep Mary Jo in your thoughts and prayers.  She had lung surgery at South Miami Hospital on Thursday.  She is hoping to be discharged from the hospital on Saturday, and be out on the dance floor that evening!  If anyone can do it, she can!  Cards can be sent to her at 818 Ashe St., Key West, FL 33040.

 

JT THOMPSON BENEFIT…

JT has been inundated with overwhelming doctor bills after surgery and rehab….Tonight there is a a unique and fun benefit at Bourbon St. Pub, at 724 Duval St.  Tom Luna, will be the fab emcee for what will be wild and wacky Talent Show, where the audience will decide who gets to finish their act or not….  sort of like a cross between the Gong Show and America’s Got Talent, Key West Way!  This evening is FREE for all who attend, and it will go from 7 to 10:00 PM.  Prizes galore will be given away, there is a silent auction, and FUN!  So come on out…have a blast, and help one of Key West’s Ambassadors of Love, Peace, and Goodwill, JT THOMPSON, who needs our help NOW!  For those who cannot attend, you can contribute to a special fund at Centennial Bank…. checks made out to JT MEDICAL EXPENSES, Acct. #68783, 701 Whitehead St., Key West, FL 33040.  Direct any questions to Centennial’s John Belkengren, 294-1480.  Thank you.

This will be another glorious BOBBY NIGHT at the KEYS Piano Bar at 1114 Duval St…..From 7 until 9:00 PM, it’s the splendid, BOBBY Nesbitt….Then at 9 PM until Closing, BOBBY Green takes over at the Piano, and delights, along with the superb Traci Reynolds doing the vocals!  Always a great time at The KEYS!

Bob and I stopped in at Azur for one of their $6 Lunches today….the place was busy as can be….great to see the Rysmans, Frank Romano and Joe Liszka, and Kerry Shelby…the Lunch was so delicious!  Every week, these specials keep getting better and better!  Thanks Drew and Mike!  Keep them coming!!!!

CARMEN AT RUSTY ANCHOR….

Before we attended the OperaFest tonight, we stopped in earlier in the evening at the always delish, RUSTY ANCHOR  Restaurant on Stock Island!  They have some new things happening there…we were there tonight because Carmen Rodriguez and Tim McAlpine were entertaining from 5 to 7 PM for the Anchor’s new Happy Hour!  All drinks are 2 for 1, and if you sit at the bar, appetizers are also 2 for 1!  Carmen was just fabulous as usual…so super to see so many people, especially, Marjorie Paul-Shook, Tom Oosterhoudt, Adair Fritz, Gordon Mackey, and Rick Worth!  Hope that Carmen and Tim are there time and again!  Very Classy touch!!!
