LAST TWO WEEKS TO SEE AQUA IDOL MARCH 24&31….DON’T MISS!!!! If it’s Tuesday, it’s Aqua Idol Night at 711 Duval St…the PLACE TO BE ON TUESDAY EVE AT 6:30-8:00 PM!!!!! March 24 and March 31 are the final two evenings to enjoy the best FREE entertainment show in town!!!!! This week our 6 remaining fabulous contestants, NAUNI BALLOU, BRUCE MOORE, EM LAZOTT, GRISEL PADRON, LAURA RICHARDSON, and DANIEL WIGGINS …will be singing two songs….One will be a Gospel or Spiritual-related song, in keeping with this season…It will be a magical evening for sure! Last week we lost two of our most wonderful powerhouse vocalists, Traci Reynolds and Kimberly Tomai. Every week they wowed us with one great song after another. It broke my heart to have them eliminated. Two more contestants will sadly be eliminated on March 24… This week, judges, Tony Konrath and Lynda Frechette will be joined by one of Key West’s most fabulous entertainers, CHRISTOPHER PETERSON, whose famous EYECONS Show packs them in at Lateda several nights a week!!!!! ALSO….Internationally known Irish singer, and former Aqua Idol contestant, FIONA MOLLO, will make an appearance and sing a song…. And rumor has it that the always terrific BOBBY NESBITT, will also be doing a guest shot! I look forward to seeing you ALL at Idol on Tuesday…..Way back when we began in January, it seemed like our finale was light years away….and poof! We are down to our last two weeks! If you have never come to hear and see what all the hoopla is about, then I urge you to PLEASE BE THERE!!! Our contestants have been amazing, singing week after week for no pay, just for the benefit of making money to benefit the Waterfront Playhouse!!!! We LOVE our contestants with a passion…and also our audience members!!!! If you have a fave contestant, it is important that you be there to keep him or her in!!!! It is really heating up!! Remember, this is not a cumulative competition. It is a week to week competition. So it is important to be there….Next week, March 31 will be our Grand Finale….Guest judge will be Waterfront Board President, JEFF JOHNSON!!!!! There will also be some fabulous guest singers and entertainers! YOU WILL DEFINITELY NOT WANT TO MISS THE GRAND FINALE!!!!

 

“SPAMALOT”…at WATERFRONT PLAYHOUSE, MARCH 24,25 NOW ON SALE….This show opened on March 19, and it is FANTABULOUS!!!!!! The audience went wild and trust me, it deserves all the accolades it is getting!!! Tickets are selling like hotcakes and I expect every performance to sell out!!!! Artistic director, DANNY WEATHERS, has taken on the biggest challenge ever with this splashy hysterically funny musical that was nominated for 14 Tony Awards. Directed by Carol MacCartee, her cast of four wonderful actors included Amber McDonald Good, John Good, Tom Murtha and Chris Stone…..all perfectly cast! CULTURE MAGAZINE 2016 SEEKS ARTWORK AND WRITERS….The FLA Keys Council of the Arts invites visual artists and writers to submit artwork and articles for Culture 2016 Magazine, a freestanding publication distributed thru the Keys. Artwork selected for the cover will receive $1,000 for one-time usage in Culture 2016…all artwork will receive a byline with artist’s name. Both vertical and horizontal images may be submitted. Only online applications will be accepted. Artist may submit up to 3 images by completing the online app, or go to the website. Online deadline is April 8, at 5 pm. For Writers, 2 FLA Keys writers will be selected and paid a fee of $1,000 each. The fee will cover research, writing, related photography and any necessary revising of an article of approximately 1,200 words.
