TONY KONRATH & BRYAN GREEN…..And speaking of Tony Konrath, mentioned above….Just want to extend a huge Congratulations to this dynamic couple for being named ‘Humanitarians of the Year’ for the American Red Cross of Greater Miami. They will receive the 2012 Florence Spottswood Award at a dinner in their honor. Bless you both for all that you do for so many…quietly and with love and joy.

HAPPY SUNDAY IN KEY WEST…..My friend Billy Cartledge and I had a delightful time of it….first stopping in to see & listen to the always divine, Howard Livingston, singing at the Smokin’s Tuna Saloon on Charles St….great crowd….great fun!!!! Then we headed to Harpoon Harry’s for a super delish breakfast…..on the way back ‘home’…we had lovely stops at the beautiful & ultra talented, Sherry Sweet Tewel’s Shop, The Art Shack, 804 ½ Caroline St……(next to Pepe’s)…and then, on to Key Accents, Home & Garden shop, 804 Caroline St., operated by Patty O’Connor…..Both filled with super unique gift items!!!!! Also on Caroline St., we stopped in the Fast Buck Freddie’s Home Store to see all the great stuff there…and we love that darling manager, Jeffrey Groskey, the man of a thousand fabulous shirts, & marvelous dance moves! Then we went to 526 Southard St. & stopped in The Garden Cottage, filled with amazing treasures for the home and garden….so nice to see Doug Harders, the manager….We have wonderful shops and stores in Key West…and I hope you are all supporting our ‘own.’ Just loved these unplanned afternoons spent with special friends in Key West. Thanks, Billy!

HIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING PARADE……NOV. 7TH……Begins at 6:00 PM along Flagler & Kennedy Dr., ending with a giant pep rally at Tommy Roberts Memorial Stadium!!! All in town are encouraged to attend!!!

TONY FALCONE’S LETTER IN THE CITIZEN…..Hopefully you read the great letter Tony, owner of Fast Buck Freddie’s wrote to the Citizen! He is suggesting having certain sections of Duval St. to be closed to cars twice a week on a trial basis. The restaurants in that area could then have umbrella tables out on the street with appropriate street entertainers…..(not bucket hammers, but nice background music)….Having just returned from Europe, where this is prevalent, I can picture this on Duval St……On our beautiful evenings, this would be divine! If you support this idea, which in my opinion, is long overdue, please contact your city commissioners. You can e-mail the city clerk at csmith@keywestcity.com. These letters are read at meetings and can influence our commissioners. We lived in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL for awhile, and often visited St. Augustine. Their whole historic shopping area is blocked off to cars, and it is filled with locals and visitors. I really do think this is worth a try and hope you do too. If not, I respect your opinion and hope you do mine. Thanks for considering.
