    Hi Guy
An excellent presentation. Is there any chance of getting a copy of this article?
    Regards.

My father, James Elbert Jackson, was recruited from Grand Cayman to help build the Western Union. I have some photos taken during its construction and would be willing to share them with you. If you are interested, you may contact me by e-mail or call me.

Thank you for posting this video. My father William Thomas Bodden and 2 uncles Loxley Arch and Elroy Arch were responsible for a large portion of the construction in Key West. I visited Key West recently and saw the boat. I felt like just seeing her I had a major connection. May God bless your efforts for her in the future.

I hope the ship’s operators will continue to describe the Western Union’s important role in Florida’s undersea cable industry. More information on my website:

I retired from Western Union in 1984 after forty years.
I often heard about the cable ship but never had the privelage of seeing it
I enjoyed the pictures and the information, and I am glad it is being restored and turned into a museum.

My uncle Heber Arch, I understand, designed the Western Union and my father, Loxley Arch, built the Western Union with his brother, Heber Arch. The Arch Family of the Cayman Islands were shipbuilders in Georgetown, Grand Cayman, and excelled in their skill. We are proud and happy that the Western Union has passed the test of time and is honored as the Flagship of the State of Florida and Key West into the 21st Century.
