THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE….DON’T MISS IT!!!!!…We were elated to attend the opening night of this wonderful and delightful new musical on Thursday, March 8th at The Waterfront Playhouse! Having never seen it before, I didn’t know what to expect. I had heard lots of good things about it and trust me….it exceeded all of my expectations! From the start it brings a smile to your face and joy to your heart and it never lets go. Danny Weathers deserves more accolades for bringing this enjoyable show to our stage, for choosing such a marvelous cast, and for his spot on direction! The set design by Michael Boyer is another stroke of artistic genius. The actors and their performances are simply fabulous! Great singing and acting….it’s non-stop laughing and even some heart string pulling thrown in for good measure, as you get caught up in the personal stories of these young “spelling champs.” Congratulations to this sensational group of actors….each perfectly cast for their character……Gayla Morgan, Joe McMurray, Eric Cole, Kristen Michelle, Jessica Miano Kruel, Kennedy Pugh, Marc Crow, Justin Ahearn and Rebecca Green. KW FRINGE THEATER PRESENTS ‘DINNER’…March 9-10-11…..Bob and I went to see this delish satirical comedy on March 2nd, at The Woman’s Club on Duval St., and we enjoyed it immensely. Directed by Peter King and wonderfully acted by Vanessa McCaffrey, Tony Konrath, Tammy Shanley, Melody Moore, Ross Pipkin, Wayne Dapser and PJ King…this is “immersion” theater…up close & personal. The storyline is very intriguing… The dining table is set, with the actors there, in the center of the room literally oblivious that there are audience members in seats along the perimeter of the room, just a heartbeat away from them. They are so “immersed” in their roles, they are not even aware that you are in the room observing the goings on at this dinner party. You are taken on a roller coaster ride as you find out the dark surprises Paige has in store for her guests… super interesting and fun to watch. The Fringe is a great addition to our Key West Theater Community! Congrats to Monnie King who has taken over the reins of Key West Fringe. Tickets are $25. Next performance nights are..and March 9,10,11. Showtime is 7:30 PM!!! Get tix by going to www.keystix.com or call 295-7676 to reserve!
