UPDATE ON MOM….
When I arrived at Villa St. Joseph to visit my dear Mother, she looked at me, smiled and said “My darling! My darling!” She was thrilled to see me. For one brief moment, I was overwhelmed with such a lovely feeling. But that moment came and went by the wayside, as she continued to be stressed and agitated…..crying out “Help Me!”….or “I’m so unhappy!”….or, “I’m dying!”….I kept trying to calm her and was sometimes successful…she would say “I’m trying. I’m really trying.” With every visit, I seem to lose more and more of my darling Mother, my dearest and biggest fan in the whole world. It is heartbreaking, and all the more upsetting, as there does not seem to be anything any of us can do to help her. In her room, after lunch, I set her hair with hot rollers, and although she cried out at the start, she did finally doze off, and seemed a bit peaceful. Thanks to each of you who continue to ask about Mom…I deeply appreciate your thoughts and prayers and support.

We were the 5th state to outlaw discrimination based on sexual or affectional orientation. Then, we were able to come down to KW and help pass it in the county…plus domestic partnership ordinances in both city and county.” Connie adds….”Now, if we can just get those nasty prohibitions on adoption and marriage out of the way!” We ALL are grateful to passionate activists like Connie Gilbert!
