OPEN LETTER TO BRENDON CUNNINGHAM AT CITY HALL…
Dear Mr. Cunningham,
The People’s Theater of Key West, a new and exciting thespian group in our town, needs your help! It seems they are ready to sign a lease for their new location to hold their acting sessions and you have kind of burst their bubble. This building at 909 Fleming St. is already being used for civic activities….and like the nearby Studios of Key West, is a non profit and also a much smaller group….in fact, a small and intimate theater which would be an asset to any neighborhood residents, who would find it easy to walk to see a staged reading or a play. At this point logic tells me that this group should not be turned down, and the approval by whomever, should NOT take 3 months to achieve as you have told People’s Theater president, Connie Hurst! In fact, I think you should be thrilled that People’s Theater is taking this building over and doing something wonderful and constructive with it!
Please expedite this process so that their move will go forward, and this Group can have a Happy ending to their story. I know you must be a reasonable man, so I join with People’s Theater and encourage you to help them out. They have a play scheduled for July 29 and they have so much to do to get the building ready for this opening. Thanks so much.
Lynda Frechette
PS….I encourage everyone in town to try to help People’s Theater of Key West with their dream. To reach Brendon Cunningham call him at 305-809-3724 or e-mail him at bcunning@keywestcity.com. Or, contact anyone else who you think can help. To contact Connie Hurst, e-mail her at newtheater@rocketmail.com. Thanks a lot!
TONIGHT AT AQUA…
It was so great to spend our last night in town with Bobby Nesbitt at Aqua Nightclub…..What a great man and entertainer he is! So wonderful to see Bruce Moore, who also wowed us with his great singing, Cindy and Jim Cameron, Rob McKeage, Margaret Adorjan, Anne Fisher and her handsome father, Steve Kramer, Patrick Shank, Rebecca Tomlinson, Jill and Sandy, and of course, Larry Harvey (also in great voice) and Alan Ferguson! And Mark Watson behind the bar always serves up the best drinks and sings too!!!! What a terrific night at Aqua with Bobby and Co.! We love Aqua Nightclub!!!!
IN MEMORIAM…
One of the dearest friends we ever had in Key West, JIM FISHER, is being remembered today with great love and much affection. We met Jim and his wife, Anne around the piano at the Pier House, when Bobby Nesbitt played there…about 11 or 12 years ago. Jim was warm, caring, loving, talented, enthusiastic and loved life and lived it to the fullest. Most of all he was hilarious, was a great tease and he really loved Key West! We shared so many wonderful times with him and we miss him every day! On this Thankful Thursday, I am very thankful to have known Jim Fisher and to have had him as part of our Key West Family!
Love to YOU…and Remember…
Jim Fisher could have written this…..
This is the Gift…to have the wonderful capacity to appreciate again and again…freshly and naively, the basic goods of life…with awe, with pleasure, wonder, and even Ecstacy!
