A WEEKEND TO REMEMBER IN KEY WEST!!!

APRIL 13TH thru APRIL 15th , etc., 2012, in KEY WEST WITH LYNDA!

DEAR READERS…..Our dear Larry Harvey has been quite a concern of late! On Monday, we heard he was at the hospital, and we visited him there. He was absolutely full of vim and vinegar and had us rolling as he told us the most outrageous and delightful stories. The next day, we heard that he had taken a downward spiral and was not well at all. In fact, he was given the last rights from the Church, and it sounded like Larry was about to leave the Island! I was distraught, and headed for the hospital to visit Larry again. I looked at him in his bed…he seemed so distressed … I told him I was there….he opened his eyes wide, looked right at me, and grabbed my hand and squeezed it so tight I could not believe it. I could see that he was very weak, but I also felt that he was fighting. I told Larry that I was laying Mary’s mantle on him and he would be protected. Larry always tells me that and so I used it on him. Anyway…..Bobby Nesbitt went to see him the following day….Wednesday, and could not believe how much better Larry was doing. Larry was sitting there, talking to everyone…joking around and well….”being Larry”… I went to visit him again today….and spent a long while with him and am amazed at his miraculous recovery! He is probably not out of the woods as yet….but….he was amazing just the same. He talked about so many things from days gone by…about his years at the Ramada…about Joanie Hammond…and when Bobby first came on the scene….He told me stories about Anne McKee…all good. Then I said to him, “Larry, have you written all this down, as this is real important Key West memorabilia” and he said….”No I have not…but I would like to recite a poem to you.” He then recited a wonderful poem he wrote in 1947….called “Raboni” that was published in a magazine. He recited it with great drama and hand motions and all. I was spellbound! I do not know what the Lord is planning for Larry Harvey….but I want you all to know…..that today in Key West….he was absolutely fabulous! Oh yes! Also fed him…he ate like a trooper…a liquid diet….and he has requested a solid food diet…..Do we love Larry Harvey or what?????? All I can say is that Key West will never be the same without the likes of Larry Harvey in it!!!!! I do believe that all of your prayers are really truly working….so keep them coming!!!!!
