RECAP OF THE GRAND FINALE OF AQUA IDOL FOR THE WATERFRONT PLAYHOUSE, MAR.21 … If you were there on ‘THAT’ fabulous Tuesday, you attended a true Key West ‘Happening!’ When we arrived at 5 pm there was barely a seat to be had! SRO already! Our Four Finalists sang two fabulous songs each, and the audience cheered, roared and loved every single minute! By the close of the evening the Top 4 were called to the stage and the winners were announced!!! BIG drum roll, please!!!!! #4….the adorable SARAH DORRANCE….#3….the fabulous DESTINY MONTGOMERY ….#2….the irresistible BOB WOOD…..and The 2017 Waterfront Playhouse Aqua Idol Winner was the smooth-as-silk, ADM. BIL MELCHIOR!!!! Each was presented with fantastic prize packages valued at over $35,000 total….. The contestants did a stupendous job….raising that night alone, $9,994…..! Amazing!!!! During the entire run of the contest, our vocalists raised over $32,000 for the Waterfront Playhouse!!! We had some sensational guest singers….Aqua Idol 2015, BRUCE MOORE, flew in FROM PA specially to act as guest judge and sang his superb rendition of I AM WHAT I AM…..TERRI WHITE sang WHAT I DID FOR LOVE… both brought down the house and received well-deserved standing O’s!! Also singing were 2014 Aqua Idol for the WP, Al Romano….Tony Konrath, my darling co-judge through the season…. (after his song, the contestants who were there judged him…an Aqua Idol Tradition!!!)….also belting it out was two-time Aqua Idol winner, Jodyrae Campbell…..and Arthur Crocker and his darling girlfriend! It was a magical evening!
THANKFUL ON FRIDAY…..I want to thank Aqua Nightclub owners, Kimball & Michael Ingram for providing the venue for this ‘Not Like Any Other Aqua Idol Contest’… all my vocalists, each good enough to win in their own right….Larry Blackburn, Arthur Crocker, Jerry Downs, Vicky Hedberg, Rhett Kalman, Melody Lynn, Matthias Maloff, Grace Osborn, Heather-Mae Potter, Gina Salerno…plus the Top 4 mentioned above. I want to thank our very entertaining emcee, Laurie Thibaud….that sexy Nick Mazza in the sound booth…bartenders including, Mark Watson and Ric Dery….my co-judge all season, Tony Konrath….all our celebrity guest judges including Fiona Molloy, Bobby Nesbitt, Danny Weathers, Jim Salini, Christopher Rounds, Dave Bootle, JT Thompson, Christopher Peterson, Ambassador Amy Bondurant & David Dunn, Bucky Montgomery, and Bruce Moore!!!! I am so thankful for all the people and businesses around town who so graciously donated to the Prize Package. I thank my dear husband, Bob, who supported me through this long and rewarding endeavor and was so much help….and to the board Members and Staff of the Waterfront Playhouse ….especially those who rarely missed a Tuesday….BIG thanks to Gary Symons and Bunnie Smith whom I couldn’t have functioned without on Tuesdays…..I will miss them more than words can say, as will the entire Board of the Waterfront Playhouse… It was a great event and I love and appreciate you ALL!! It really does ‘take a village!’

It is hard to ignore the Arien….they have so much personality and vitality, making them the sort of people who like to be noticed!
