MARY JO DA SILVA’S BIRTHDAY AT LATEDA AT 4 TO 6 PM JAN., 10TH……Today is Mary Jo Da Silva’s birthday……Everyone in town is invited to attend a Birthday Celebration to honor her memory! Mary Jo passed away on August 8th, 2011….surrounded by cherished friends and family members. She was quite an amazing Key West Legend-in-her-Own-Time! Her personality, her laugh, her zest for life, and her lips were bigger than life! On Tuesday, Jan. 10th, from 4 to 6 PM, all who knew and loved her are invited to come together for an informal gathering at her favorite haunt, LaTeDa, at 1125 Duval St. There will be some memory sharing, and some music played to honor her Life! Her son, Matt Thue is coming in from California, and Donna Barnett, a long-time friend, has flown in from NYC to be a part of this celebration. Later on in the evening, you can all return to the DA to listen to the music of Dave Bootle in the By George Bar at 9 pm, and dance the night away as Mary Jo always did! Let’s make it a Mary Jo Da Silva kind of happening! My gosh, we all miss her so much!

AQUA IDOL AT 6:30 PM AT AQUA NIGHTCLUB….JAN. 10……It’s Aqua Idol night, and six fabulous contestants are still in the running for that coveted Aqua Idol Crown! They are Cynthia Mulcahey, James Mill, Mike Rolfsmeyer, Quincy Perkins, Connie Hurst, and Denis Hyland….each one is true winner in my book! They will be singing their hearts out again for the benefit of the Waterfront Playhouse….songs from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s! We need you there to ‘vote’ for your fave singers….it is very tight at this point! Randy Thompson is the emcee and joining Tony Konrath and Me, Lynda Frechette as celebrity judge, is Donna Barnett, noted jewelry designer and partner of Broadway star, Terri White currently starring in Follies at the Marquis Theatre in NYC! So, if you were at the Mary Jo Event, mosey down to Aqua for Idol….and then back to the DA….Now, that is exactly what Mary Jo would do, right?

PAT WEST UPDATE…….Some good news on Pat West’s awful accident…..It seems she did not fracture her pelvic bone as previously thought. Also, she will be off the ventilator in several days. She is recovering faster than the doctors thought. They have her out of bed, sitting in a chair and such. She is laughing at jokes and is communicating by writing. The ventilator prevents her from talking. Doctors are predicting she may not need physical therapy once sh has recovered and healed properly. Pray so she does not contact pneumonia, common when on a ventilator. The accident occurred due to icy roads….a car traveling north slid sideways in front of them and they t-boned it. That car rolled over several times and off the highway. The passengers in that car were not injured. Pat & Chip were wearing seatbelts but their car accordioned. BOBBY IN THE LOBBY…. If you missed either of these two wonderful shows on Sun. or Mon., featuring the lyrics of Oscar Hammerstein, you missed a great time! As usual, Bobby wowed the audience with his fabulous ‘inside’ stories of Hammerstein and the interesting, complex, and talented lyricist he was. What an array of sensational music we hear from Bobby and his super guest performers, Susan Powell and Danny Weathers! After Danny sang Old Man River, the audience ovation was deafening! And Susan, just glittered and glowed! These shows continue to be real Treasures….NOT to be missed! Congratulations Bobby! You are the BEST!

AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY AT WATERFRONT……We were thrilled to see this masterpiece of a play on opening night, and again on Dec, 28! What a sensational play….The audiences are loving it is deserving of all the accolades it is garnering. A stellar cast will make you feel like your family is totally normal! Though a drama, which won both the Tony award and the Pulitzer prize, it is really hilarious too! This family, is so outrageous you cannot help but laugh at the over the top lines that are said and the events that occur. Joy Hawkins and George DiBraud are deserving of some kind of award…they are THAT good! In fact every actor is superb……John Wells, Chris Stone, Tom Murtha, Nicole Nurenberg, Georg Murphy, Bob Bowersox, Jessica Miano Kruel, Shakti Assouline, Joe McMurray, Stephanie Yosen, and Kyle Caskey.
