TUESDAY, MARCH 17, 2020…..

DEAR READERS…..The world as we knew it is changing minute by minute….. Today is St. Patrick’s Day, and as I drove down Duval St. this afternoon after voting….. it looked like there was a great big party going on…. people all decked out in green, wearing beads and walking with open containers… laughing and happy and totally oblivious of what is going on in the Universe!  The rude awakening will come to everyone at 5:00 pm tonight, when all restaurants and bars must close their doors….. Various restaurants will only be open for Take-Out Orders.  In my lifetime, I NEVER thought this could occur on St. Patty’s Day… or any day….in Key West!!!!    In addition….  as far as I know….. ALL the theaters in town have been closed indefinitely… all the remaining shows at the Waterfront Playhouse, the Red Barn, the Fringe, Tennessee Williams, The Studios, The Tropic Cinema, and the Key West Theater are postponed or cancelled until further notice.  These closings will jolt all the naysayers from their apathy.   This is serious stuff and if we want to help each other out we have to follow what the authorities are saying.  Those authorities in the  KNOW… say it will be getting worse … until it gets better… and that may be a long way off.  In the meantime, we must stay calm while we exercise social distancing and self-quarantining.   Many things are beyond our control…. but… we can control our behavior and do the right thing.  We are the masters of our domain.  As you will read below, we have postponed the remainder of the Aqua Idol Waterfront Playhouse Fundraiser…..  As painful a decision as that was, it was the right decision.  My hope is that we will be able to somehow finish the season sometime before June… but we are exploring alternative options…. Stay tuned!!!!

MARCH 18 THRU MARCH 24 ETC….. 2020, IN KEY WEST WITH LYNDA!!!!

“AQUA IDOL”WEDNESDAY….. MARCH 18TH…..
HAPPY MARCH 18 BIRTHDAY TO….FLOWER CONROY …SANDY SUJAK… SUTTON FOSTER … JOHN BELL MASCHAL …NATE JANIS … ANNE REIN… MARY THIXTON…HOWARD WOLFF ….. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO….. DIANE HOHMAN AND KEN GIPE….

****AQUA IDOL POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE…..It truly pains me to let you know that we have decided to err on the side of caution and postpone the remaining two nights, March 18 and 25, of the Waterfront Playhouse Aqua Idol Extravaganza.  The seriousness of the CoronaVirus Pandemic and its impending consequences were key in this decision.  All remaining vocalists have been notified and they understand that this is a ‘Postponement’ until there is some light at the end of the tunnel.  We do not want to put the health of our glorious singers or our wonderful audience members in jeopardy in ANY way!  If anyone got ill during Idol I would never forgive myself for not having the courage to go on hiatus for a while.  Stay tuned and please, at this time in life, do practice social distancing.   Thank you for your support and understanding…. and big thanks to all our beloved supporters!  And please do not forget our remaining contestants…. STEPHANIE WISE…. BOB WOOD…. JON HERNANDEZ…. BRIA ANSARA…. GAYLA MORGAN…. TREY FORSYTH….. SARAH DORRANCE … AND… CHARLII CLARK!  These are some of the most wonderful and talented individuals and nicest people I have EVER known… and that includes those who started the event with us, ON JAN. 22…. including…. LUKE …. ZACH… MOUKA…. CALEN … MIKE…. RICHARD ….PERKY SARAH…. HERB…AND  VERA!!!!  When the time is right, we will be back…. better than ever!  Though, as I said above, depending on what transpires in the months ahead, we will explore alternative options!!!!

THE IDOL PRIZE PACKAGE…..I want to thank everyone out there who has contributed to the Prize Package…. you are all so kind and generous.  Even though we have postponed the Event until further notice, all those prizes will be used eventually when we have our Finale.   The show WILL go on, somehow, someway… just not right now!!!!  For those who have promised items, please let me know as we are still picking up.

THAT WE HAD TO CANCEL THE REMAINDER OF THIS MUSICAL IS TOO PAINFUL FOR WORDS!  BUT NEVERTHELESS, I HAVE INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING REVIEW…….A TRIBUTE OF LOVE TO ALL INVOLVED IN THIS FABULOUS SHOW!!!!

*REVIEW ON**”PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT” AT WATERFRONT PLAYHOUSE…… We have already seen this fantabulous show twice!   This show was by and large one of the MOST entertaining and sensational shows the Playhouse has ever presented… way up with my faves!!!  From start to finish you were caught in a fabulous whirlwind of great music, dancing, glitter and glow!  Congrats to artistic director, Tom Thayer,  who did a superlative job directing.   He chose a great deluxe cast that knocked it out of the park every  single night… This Musical was hilarious, and also poignant and moving … and it had you smiling  and humming songs, long after you left the theater!!!   Congrats to Michael Boyer on some of the most magical sets he ever created…..to musical director, Michael Fauss and his terrific musicians, Gary Rivenson, Larry Baeder, Donna DeForrest, Ken Swinkin and Roberta Jacyshyn….awesome and impressivie choreography by Carolyn Cooper, who also starred in the show (and stole the show as Shirley!)…. The cast is over the top sensational…. Dave Bootle was marvelous and inspired……..and Christopher Peterson was absolutely sublime…..His rapport onstage with beloved actor, David Black was brilliant….. Christopher Peterson also created all of the seemingly hundreds of over-the-top Costumes which were GLORIOUS!!!!!  Others who were great in major roles are the multi-talented Connor Cook and the always beloved, David Black, who never disappoints (He garnered applause just by walking on stage!) …..The Ensemble was about the best I have ever seen onstage…. and how Carolyn Cooper got them to perform so many challenging dances blows my mind!   The remainder of the cast, having so much fun onstage, were Belle Jampol, *Lauren Thompson (who did a great job as Marion)…. Jake Furguson (perfect as Benji)…. *Rhett Kalman, *Donavan Pavlicek, *James Harcup, Aaron Duclos, DJ Mills, *Arthur Crocker, Tori Gregg, Sabrina Fosse, Nana Tatebayashi, Ervin Tumm, and Kelci Grooms.  This gifted ensemble played multiple roles and have what seemed like a zillion costume changes.  This Show deserved all the accolades it is received…… I also want to give a special mention to  Stage Mgr., Trish Manley….house mgr., Wendy Allen, box office mgr., Debra Falciani and the great crew!  Bravo to all!   The Cast, Crew and Board thank all those who had the privilege to see the show, many of them, more than once…. and so very saddened for all who never got the pleasure and joy to see one of the BEST shows to EVER be presented in Key West anywhere!!!!  The staff will contact you to let you know what lies ahead, what to expect and all those things you may be concerned about.  BRAVO “PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT” …. *** THE PISCES PERSONALITY….FEBRUARY 20 THRU MARCH 20TH ***

This is either the sign of the saint or the sinner…or BOTH rolled into one! The symbol of Pisces are two fish swimming in different directions….and this describes the way Pisces can hit the heights or sink to the lowest depths. It’s a sign of extremes. Pisceans often come off as ‘otherworldly’….they are swayed by their emotions. The result is that Pisces is the sign of the Dreamer…the Visionary…the Saint! One of the most outstanding attributes of a Piscean is their kindness. They have a bottomless reservoir of compassion for others, even when they suspect they are being conned by them. They work hard for their favorite charities or local good causes….though you may not know anything about it as they don’t like advertising their good works. Many Pisceans say they go through life as in a dream, drifting and floating and at the mercy of whatever fate has to offer them. They have a great capacity to show emotion, and are easily moved to tears by TV shows that present suffering. They also struggle to face up to harsh reality. They hate unpleasant situations, harsh facts, and confrontations. They hate the awfulness of what is in the news….preferring to look at the world through rose colored glasses. They can actually deceive themselves into thinking things are better than they really are. They wear their heart on their sleeve, and what a huge heart they have!

They are born romantics, but that makes them very sensitive to hurt and pain. They pour out their affection to their favorite people. Most Pisceans are faithful…but some have a big capacity for deception and may be juggling a string of lovers! They see the best in others, which is why they have so many admirers. However, it also puts them at risk of potential heartbreak because it makes them blind to a loved one’s failings. The best signs for a Pisces are Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio, Libra, and Capricorn.

Pisceans are drawn to professions that are incredibly glamorous and artistic or those involving service to others. They are interested in careers as actors, photographers, dancers, designers, the cosmetic industry, and fashion. Many devote their lives to looking after others especially in hospitals, prisons and hospices. They can be totally self-sacrificing. They may also be attracted to the religious or contemplative life. Needless to say many are also living on the wrong side of the law. The best signs for a Piscean are Libra….Scorpio….Cancer and another Pisces.
