ONLY 7 MORE DAYS TILL AQUA IDOL/WATERFRONTPLAYHOUSE!!!

JANUARY 15 THRU JANUARY 21 (ETC.), 2019 IN KEY WEST WITH LYNDA!!!

HAPPY JAN.15 BIRTHDAY TO….KARRI DALEY ….. STEVE ANDRES ….. ALEXANDER HUNT …. SHELA TAYLOR ….. SOPHIA PERANTEAU …..KAY BRESLIN…..

CAN YOU JUST FEEL THE EXCITEMENT….In the Air?  Why, pray tell?  It is because the 2019 AQUA IDOL for THE WATERFRONT PLAYHOUSE begins on Tues., Jan. 22… at Aqua Nightclub, 711 Duval St. from 6:30 to 8 pm!  Come one and all to the very best FREE-to-Attend Show in town…. I have assembled a wonderful group of big-hearted vocalists, who are volunteering their time and talent to help raise needed dollars for the esteemed Waterfront Playhouse!  Since last season, people have been asking “When is it starting?  Will you be organizing it again?”  Answers… Jan. 22 and yes, I guess I am… at least this one more time!!! (Who knows about next year?)….I would like to introduce those who will be performing for this highly anticipated EVENT…. Singing will be JOHN BAIRD….KARRI DALEY….. PORSCHIA DENNING …. CHUCK FOX….. LUKE FOX (no relation to Chuck!)….DORA GHOLSON … DEBORAH GRAY … ROBBY LE BLANC …VERA GREGOROVICZ …..  MIKE RIDGEWELL ….. MIKE MOSI …. SARAH PERKINS …. VICKY ROWDEN…. JIM SPEAKE … ADAM SWEITZER….. JENNY-MAE MURPHY …..JOE TRIPP…..  We are hoping you will not miss a single Idol and will support these generous talents and our Playhouse.  Make sure you come early enough to get a good seat.  Judges the first week will be Tony Konrath and me, plus JERRY DOWNS, last year’s Aqua Idol Winner.  He will also be gracing us with a guest song.  WE are also hoping that Danny Weathers, back for a visit from Palm Springs, will be stopping by to sing a guest song that night!  So…. Get ready for a great time enjoying some very special vocalists!!!!

*******PLEASE BECOME A MEMBER OF THE WATERFRONT PLAYHOUSE!!!  Before long ‘the 2018-19 Season’ in KW will begin again.  As a proud Board Member of the Waterfront Playhouse for 13 years, I am hoping that you will take the time to read the following.   Our beloved Waterfront Playhouse had some major setbacks and challenges this past year.  Hurricane Irma had a huge negative impact on the tourist populations coming to KW and dollars spent at the Theater.   Major funding and grant challenges that we had counted on for years, were not there last season.  But we persevered and presented yet another excellent Theater Season. In addition, we were confronted with the retirement of our wonderful artistic director of 17 years, Danny Weathers.  The good news was that our new artistic director, Tom Thayer, was already employed by The WP as Business & Box Office Mgr.  As fate would have it, Tom had run a Theater in Tennessee for 33 years,  and he was able to seamlessly move into the AD spot. Of course that meant we needed a new Business Mgr., Box office Mgr…. and a Marketing Director.  Then we lost our House Mgr. who also retired.  At first it was a tad overwhelming, but we were able find quality people to assume each of those positions.  Behind the scenes, we lost several key board members.. but after a search we have 9 fabulous new Board Members and we are thrilled!  As you can see, we are on the threshold of new exciting beginnings.  In spite of any past challenges, we all know that THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!!  Theaters aren’t able to rely on Ticket Sales alone to keep them going…that is only a tiny part of it.  In order to continue to present the kind of quality theater you have come to expect from us, we need YOU to help!  How can I help? you ask….If you are already a MEMBER of the Waterfront Playhouse Family, I ask that you consider deepening your commitment financially by becoming a member at a higher level than you had before.  Each level provides special perks and privileges….  BUT, the important thing is to look at it as not so much as ‘what you can get out of your membership’ but what you are giving and doing to provide Key West with the BEST Theater experience possible!  If you have Never been a Member of the Waterfront Playhouse before…. I hope you will realize that we NEED YOUR HELP and support more than ever!…now right NOW!  You can go online to www.waterfrontplayhouse.org or call 305-294-5015 to order your membership….and you can see the Breakdown of what each Level of Membership provides.  You will be helping us beyond words…. To recover from Hurricane Irma, declining state funding and increasing costs!!!  Thank you so much for your support of the Waterfront Playhouse and LIVE Theater in Paradise!!!

                                               THE CAPRICORN PERSONALITY…DEC. 22 TO JAN. 20

Capricorns are terrific company and are known for their wonderful sense of humor.  They are also the perfect person to turn to in time of any crisis.  Anyone who has enjoyed a good laugh with a Capricorn will want to come back for more.  One of a Cap’s greatest strengths is learning from experience.   They know how to turn a bad mistake into a valuable lesson.  And that is important, as it is a rare Capricorn who goes through life unscathed.  Most have their crosses to bear, but they usually grit their teeth and get on with it.  This endurance and sticking power stays with them through life.  Capricorns do have a tendency to be a tad pessimistic…seeing the glass half empty rather than half full.  They often have a feeling that something awful is just waiting to happen, and if their fear comes true, they can become quite depressed.  They are often fearful about the future and they need sympathetic listeners so they can unburden themselves.  Reputation is very important to Capricorns.  They want to be seen in a good light at all times by everyone.  They often dress quite formally, as though they would let themselves down if they wear anything too casual.  They tend to wear blacks and grays rather than bright colors.  Another Capricorn bonus is that they never seem to age.  Other signs will age, but the reverse seems to happen to a Capricorn.  In fact, they seem to get younger right before your eyes.  They mellow, learn to relax, and by the time of old age, they can make teenagers look positively boring!

In love, Caps always want to give a good impression and seem in control.  On the surface they may appear to be calm and collected but they aren’t nearly as emotionally unruffled as they seem.  Deep down they are extremely shy and vulnerable.  Their feelings are easily hurt, and they will distance themselves emotionally from people as a form of protection.  Caps are not noted for their demonstrative affections and they are very shy about expressing their feelings.  The thought of rejection is appalling to them.  Thus they shy away from scenes and close relationships, as they do not want to get hurt.  Though Caps can be quite solitary creatures, they benefit from being in a loving relationship.  Caps have a very traditional view of long-term relationships, believing that the man is the breadwinner and the woman should stay and take care of the house.  Nevertheless, despite all of these issues, they can be hot stuff in the boudoir.  The best signs for a Capricorn are Aries, Taurus, Cancer, and Capricorn!!!!

In career the Capricorn shines!  They strive to be taken seriously by the world and their job is a way to prove themselves..and they devote lots of time to it.  Life is often a struggle for a Cap until at least the 30th birthday….when things become easier and their careers begin to soar.  They are quite ambitious and harbor secret plans to go right to the top.  They are a valuable member of any work team…they can be relied on as they have a strong sense of duty….they may be chained to the desk long after everyone else has gone home….and they are often Workaholics!  Career paths they find appealing are big business, dentistry, medical field, civil service, and government work.  Even though it may be lonely at the top, they will manage beautifully.
