“PETER & THE STARCATCHER” DEC.14,15,18,19,20….This Tony Award-winning show opened on Thursday, Dec.13 at The Waterfront Playhouse!!!  A full house had a grand old time enjoying 12 actors playing over 50 characters…all on a journey to answer the age-old question, ‘How did Peter Pan become ‘the boy who never grew up?’ This is an imaginative and wildly entertaining evening at the theater, and the cast is amazing!  Congrats to Tom Thayer, new artistic director at the Waterfront who directed this action-packed, hilarious group of superb actors (and who also tickled the ivories to accompany the musical numbers!)  And what a fabulous group they are… new to Key West are Dillon Feldman, Alan Gillespie, Devante Mills, and Steve Miller who are all exceptional.. along with the outstanding Susannah Wells, who is luminous, brilliant, and glistening in every way….(and the only female in the show)… plus Trey Forsyth, John Reynolds, John McDonald, Ross Pipkin, Arthur Crocker, Matt Hulsey, and Bob Wood…all giving 150% all evening long…. As Joanna Brady said in her glowing review in KONK Life…’the plot is incidental…the play is really a vehicle to present this quirky collection of characters and to showcase their considerable comedic and musical talents of the players who bring them to life on stage.’  As ever Michael Boyer has worked his own special magic with the set design…and the costumes by Mary Folino are sensational.  I look forward to seeing ‘PETER & THE STARCATHCER’ again!!!  Get tickets now by calling the box office at 305-294-5015 or go to www.waterfrontplayhouse.org.  This show runs Tuesday thru Saturday until Jan. 6th.  You do NOT want to miss ‘PETER & THE STARCATCHER’!!!!!!

‘WITH BELLS ON’ at RED BARN….DEC. 14,21,28,JAN.4….We were at opening night to see this most entertaining and delightful two-person comedy, starring Trey Gerrald and Don Bearden, and directed by first timer, Christopher Peterson, who also did costumes…. (Is there anything he can’t do?)….You do not want to miss With Bells On…  get tix now at www.redbarntheatre.com.. Or call 305-296-9911.  This show runs through Jan. 5….See what hilarity ensues when a statuesque drag queen in full Christmas regalia… and an unassuming straight man, get locked in an elevator together….. you will have a good ole time of it all!!!!  Congrats Christopher!

JIM HALL…ANOTHER SETBACK….. Please keep JimHall in your thoughts and prayers…. And also his concerned husband, Billy Cartledge….You can send Jim cards and messages of support to him at his home at 208 53rd St.   Virginia Beach, VA 23451. You can email him at Dietcoke53@aol.com.  You can text him at 757-285-7544.  I KNOW he would love to hear from you, and I am a firm believer that people heal more quickly when they feel love and support from friends and family.  Also… please keep caregiver, Billy Cartledge in your prayers and thoughts as he administers his special brand of TLC to his husband, Jim!!!!  We love and miss them both.

*******PLEASE BECOME A MEMBER OF THE WATERFRONT PLAYHOUSE!!!  Before long ‘the 2018-19 Season’ in KW will begin again.  As a proud Board Member of the Waterfront Playhouse for 13 years, I am hoping that you will take the time to read the following.   Our beloved Waterfront Playhouse had some major setbacks and challenges this past year.  Hurricane Irma had a huge negative impact on the tourist populations coming to KW and dollars spent at the Theater.   Major funding and grant challenges that we had counted on for years, were not there last season.  But we persevered and presented yet another excellent Theater Season. In addition, we were confronted with the retirement of our wonderful artistic director of 17 years, Danny Weathers.  The good news was that our new artistic director, Tom Thayer, was already employed by The WP as Business & Box Office Mgr.  As fate would have it, Tom had run a Theater in Tennessee for 33 years,  and he was able to seamlessly move into the AD spot. Of course that meant we needed a new Business Mgr., Box office Mgr…. and a Marketing Director.  Then we lost our House Mgr. who also retired.  At first it was a tad overwhelming, but we were able find quality people to assume each of those positions.  Behind the scenes, we lost several key board members.. but after a search we have 9 fabulous new Board Members and we are thrilled!  As you can see, we are on the threshold of new exciting beginnings.  In spite of any past challenges, we all know that THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!!  Theaters aren’t able to rely on Ticket Sales alone to keep them going…that is only a tiny part of it.  In order to continue to present the kind of quality theater you have come to expect from us, we need YOU to help!  How can I help? you ask….If you are already a MEMBER of the Waterfront Playhouse Family, I ask that you consider deepening your commitment financially by becoming a member at a higher level than you had before.  Each level provides special perks and privileges….  BUT, the important thing is to look at it as not so much as ‘what you can get out of your membership’ but what you are giving and doing to provide Key West with the BEST Theater experience possible!  If you have Never been a Member of the Waterfront Playhouse before…. I hope you will realize that we NEED YOUR HELP and support more than ever!…now right NOW!  You can go online to www.waterfrontplayhouse.org or call 305-294-5015 to order your membership….and you can see the Breakdown of what each Level of Membership provides.  You will be helping us beyond words…. To recover from Hurricane Irma, declining state funding and increasing costs!!!  Thank you so much for your support of the Waterfront Playhouse and LIVE Theater in Paradise!!!

                               THE  SAGITTARIUS PERSONALITY….NOVEMBER 23 TO DECEMBER 21

One of the great things about a Sag is their irrepressible optimism.  They are convinced that everything will always work out for the best.  This attitude has helped them through many a storm.  They keep a positive attitude and sense of humor…and when things get tough, they are able to find the silver light at the end of the tunnel.  This is also one of the luckiest signs of the Zodiac.  Sags are enthusiastic and always keen to take the initiative and make things happen.  They don’t like to sit around and watch the grass grow…they like to have new and exciting projects that keep them on the go.  Otherwise they get fed up and depressed.  They need something to aim for.  Goals are very important to Sags, preferring challenges to walkovers.  Once they achieve their goal, they are on their way to the next target!

Life is always lively with a Sag around…they enjoy discussing ideas with friends and loved ones.  They are intellectual and enjoy stretching their minds….their homes are full of books, and have a tremendous respect for knowledge.  They pride themselves on their honesty, hate hypocrites and yes men.  Sags are also known to exaggerate a bit…and sometimes they are more blunt and direct than you would want.

One of the most popular signs, people can’t help but flock around the Sagittarian.  They radiate a friendly force-field, are terrific company and laughter never seems to be far away.  They have a lot of friends!  People appreciate their open and straightforward manner.  Sags cannot stand to be tied down or hemmed in by a partner.  They need to be able to lead their own life and not feel that someone is always peering over their shoulder trying to police their every move.  The Sag will let their partner know if this is annoying them.  If you love a Sag, they need their space.  Sags enjoy sex, but the most important need in a partner is one who will be a friend as well as a lover.  That friendship is something sorely needed long after the passion fades.  Anything else is not good enough.  The best signs for a Sagittarian are Gemini, Leo, and also Libra, Aquarius and Aries.

In careers, Sags are very sociable and like to be surrounded by lively colleagues, and are popular in their workplace.  They like jobs that keep them on the move…not stuck behind a desk.  Sags are ideally suited to career in education, publishing, writing, broadcasting, philosophy, and travel.  They love money and enjoy spending it.  The most exciting thing to them about money, is what it can buy.  They prefer casual clothes to dressing up and are not impressed by designer labels.  They have a weak spot for cars…especially those that are sleek and distinctive and that cost a fortune.

WE LOVE OUR SAGITTARIAN FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS!!!!

                                                    *THE 2018 FRECHETTE GAZETTE*

                                                                           GOD BLESS US EVERYONE!!!

…But especially, God Bless Bob!!!!  Every single year he goes up to the attic and carries down countless boxes filled with my vast collection of Christmas treasures… then he gets out all the strings of lights and tests them….untangles them…and painstakingly arranges them on each Tree!  And, of course…. He helps pick out the Trees, and this year he had divine inspiration!  When we got to the MARC House  there were piles of trees everywhere…His x-ray vision zeroed in on a tree all wrapped up in roping…and singled it out as the tree to examine.  And voila!  It was perfection.  We agreed that last year’s Living Room  tree was lovely, but much too small…. Well, let me tell you, folks…. this Tree is not Wee!  It is tall… full and wonderful….and it will take until Christmas Eve to decorate!  By the way, we also have our dear Red Riding Hood Tree in the Family Room and our Antique Feather Tree in the Dining Room!  Somehow they will all get decorated!  I will work diligently till it is all done!

STAYING IN KEY WEST THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!

We are opting to remain in Key West this Christmas, instead of making the trip to Ohio … We are excited that our niece Sally and her husband Robert will be joining us on Christmas Day, through the New Year…we know everyone in town will give them a royal Key West Welcome!!!  We are looking forward to all that Key West offers during this holiday season…. The Nutcracker, openings of shows on various stages in town, parties, galas, etc…. A whirl of activity that we are happy to be part of!

BOB AND LYNDA’S KEY WEST WORLD

And.. our KW world is pretty fabulous!  Bob is still plugging away selling real estate, and without a doubt, he is the best and handsomest realtor in Key West!!  He is on two Boards…the executive Board of the Waterfront Playhouse and treasurer of Tampoa, our neighborhood association.  He also has joined a Book Club called The Wise Guys… and he and his cohorts get together monthly to discuss their assigned book… usually doing lunch afterward.  He loves it!  I think I may be the busiest non-paid worker in Key West.  I, too am on the Waterfront Playhouse Board, and have once again agreed to coordinate the Aqua Idol Fundraiser for the theater.  I am in the process of putting a fabulous group of vocalists together who will be vying for the coveted title of Aqua Idol, donating their time and talent to raise badly needed $$ for our Theater.  Last year our singers collectively raised over $47,000.  The contest starts on Jan. 22 thru the end of March.  It has become a hugely looked-forward to event.  It runs every Tues., from 6:30-8 and people arrive at 5 pm to save seats as we have SRO every week!  I am also still sending out my weekly blog, In Key West With Lynda, to over 2,200 people… letting everyone know about all the events happening in town.  If you do not get it weekly, you can check my website at www.conchtv.com and get it in its entirety. Bob  still enjoys golf… And I am still playing tennis….after all these years!!!  You can email us at rfrechette@bellsouth.net and kwlynda@bellsouth.net.  Send us yours!  Stay in touch!

ROSE COTTAGE AND CHIPPEWA LAKE, OHIO!

We are usually in KW from Oct. 13 thru June 15…. Then, we head north to our dear Rose Cottage overlooking Chippewa Lake….It is a place filled with nostalgia and precious memories … it is our vacation home…. A place to tend my cottage garden….feed the birds….go antiquing ….play tennis….enjoy the Lake …..and very special moments with good family and friends, on our “Magic  Porch’….candles and twinkling lights…good conversation…laughter, and great wine!  When we close it all up in October, it sits there sadly and awaits our return in June.  It is extra nice that my brother Ed and his family are but 150 steps away… and niece Jennifer’s family has a place a few doors down from that.  And it is always a joy to reunite with our Chippewa Lake Family and catch up…and dine at the Village and The Oaks, two of our favorite area haunts!  We are blessed to have wonderful friends in both Key West and Chippewa Lake… and being able to live in two homes and places we love, makes our hearts sing!

                                                                                   OUR CHILDREN…..

…are not children anymore… I jokingly say they are “Bob’s kids from his first marriage”…(even though we’ve only had one marriage)….After all, how could I possibly have children older than I am?  Son Rob is enjoying his single life… he is a top salesman at American Weathermaster….His life revolves around his job, fishing competitively (He is a highly ranked Muskie Fisherman), and sports…. His daughter Lexy is excelling in college and is excited about spending the next semester studying in Barcelona.  Our daughter Melissa Lang loves her job at Northbrook Toyota in Il…Caring and thoughtful, with a great big heart, she has quite a menagerie of pets (4 dogs at last count..1 cat)…she loves to knit and has become quite the artist with woodworking.  A huge country music fan, we always look forward to her annual visit to the Key West Songwriter’s Festival in May….having it fall around Mother’s Day makes it extra special for me!

                                                           ANNUAL NEW YORK EXTRAVAGANZA!

Many years ago we started the tradition of going to NYC around our Aug. 22 anniversary to overdose on Broadway Shows!  This year was extra special!  We were thrilled that dear friends Bobby Nesbitt and Michael Mulligan were planning to be in the City at the same time…and we made plans to see ‘My Fair Lady’ with them right on 8/22.  Coincidentally it turned out that we were going to two other shows, ‘Carousel’ and ‘The Band’s Visit’… the same days and times!  Adding to the joy of it all was great friend, Bruce Moore popping in to surprise me (Bob knew he was coming and kept mum!)…we all went to see ‘My Fair Lady’ and then dined afterward at Café Fiorello (Thanks Mike!).  In addition to the above shows mentioned, we also got to see ‘The Show That Goes Wrong’ and Michael Feinstein and Christine Ebersole in concert at 54 Below!  ALL shows were marvelous…If it couldn’t get any better, we also got to connect with other good friends in NY…Paul Smith, George Sanders and Shawn Curran, Kristen LoGerfo and Peter Glicklich, and Fred Greenberg and June Hudson…. We are still smiling as we remember NYC 2018!

                                                         MISCELLANEOUS HIGHLIGHTS IN 2018
