I really try to help all those who hate smoking. Please give it a try…..

***”PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT” AT WATERFRONT PLAYHOUSE…MARCH 11-14 THIS WEEK…. We were at the amazing and fabulous Opening of this Musical on May 5 and it was a constant WOW!!!!! EVERYONE in attendance had the time of their life! From start to finish you were totally caught in a fabulous whirlwind of great music, dancing, glitter and glow! Congrats to artistic director, Tom Thayer, who did a superlative job directing. He chose a super deluxe cast that knocked it out of the park with this superbly entertaining, hilarious, and sometimes poignant and moving Musical, that will have you smiling and humming songs, long after you leave the theater!!! Tickets are flying out of the box office so if you do not want to be disappointed, get tix NOW at 305-294-5015 or go to www.waterfrontplayhouse.org! Congrats to Michael Boyer on the most magical sets…..musical director, Michael Fauss and his terrific musicians….awesome choreography by Carolyn Cooper, who also starred in the show (and stole the show as Shirley!)…. The cast was over the top sensational…. Dave Bootle was divine…..and Christopher Peterson was sublime…..and he created all of the seemingly hundreds of over-the-top Costumes which were GLORIOUS!!!!! Others who are great in major roles are the talented Connor Cook and the always beloved, David Black, who never disappoints (He garnered applause just walking on stage!) …..The Ensemble was about the best I have ever seen onstage…. and how Carolyn Cooper got them to perform so many challenging dances blows my mind! The remainder of the cast, having so much fun onstage, are Belle Jampol, *Lauren Thompson, Jake Furguson, *Rhett Kalman, *Donavan Pavlicek, *James Harcup, Aaron Duclos, DJ Mills, *Arthur Crocker, Tori Gregg, Sabrina Fosse, Nana Tatebayashi, Ervin Tumm, and Kelci Grooms. This gifted ensemble play multiple roles and have what seems like a zillion costume changes. The audience had the time of their life and the raves were all well-deserved. Many told me they were going home and getting tickets for another night so they could enjoy it once again. (We have tix for two more nights, by the way!!!) I also want to give a special mention to Stage Mgr., Trish Manley….house mgr., Wendy Allen, box office mgr., Debra Falciani and the great crew! Bravo to all! (Note * were given to all onstage who sang for me for Aqua Idol!!! I was a proud ‘Mother’!!!)

How fitting that this Celebration was held at the Playhouse! Starting with hors d’oeuvres AND champagne in commemorative glasses ….the attendees were all ready for a fabulous evening and they weren’t disappointed! After Cocktail Hour, everyone was invited into the theater, first to hear a heartfelt talk by WP Pres. Chrisopher Elwell and then to enjoy a superb show by cast members of Priscilla Queen of the Desert….Glorious voices and beautiful music indeed! Following the presentation, everyone went into the Sculpture Garden, to enjoy a sumptuous dinner by the amazing Iron Chefs. It was a truly memorable evening and I can truly say, A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!!! I thank everyone who was there to share in this memorable 80th Anniversary Gala… a Once-In-A-Lifetime Event! AWESOME FOUNDATION KEY WEST!!! Friend Michael Shields asked that I mention this Foundation that he is heavily involved in. Globally, there are 90 chapters…there are 50 in the USA, with 5 in Florida, including Key West. Over $4.4 million granted since 2009. The mission of the group is to bring more awesomeness to our town, and spreading it by awarding $1,000 grants with no strings attached to the most awesome idea, project, proposal, or plan that is presented to the Group of Trustees, who each plop down from their own pockets the money to fund the Grant. Congratulations to the dashing ALFREDO GIMINEZ and his partner for reinventing VIVA’S Saloon as an Argentinian Restaurant specializing in delicious Steaks and delectable Argentinian fare. ALL food and wine is imported from Argentina!!! Everything we sampled was absolutely yummy! We saw lots of people we knew who were having a grand time and heading for the buffet table as soon as more overflowing platters of food were brought out and served.
