THE WATERFRONT PLAYHOUSE AQUA IDOL MEMORY LINGERS ON!!!

APRIL 6 THRU THROUGH APRIL 12 (ETC.), 2018 IN KEY WEST WITH LYNDA!!!

HAPPY APRIL 6 BIRTHDAY TO….SUE FORTI … GEORGE RUTGERS… (Please remember Larry Harvey and Virginia Molzan.) HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO….. TERRENCE MCNALLY AND TOM KIRDAHY!!!

***2018 AQUA IDOL MEMORIES TO SHARE……It really was the BEST of times! For 11 weeks, from Jan. 16 thru March 27, Aqua Nightclub was filled to the rafters with great audiences who were there to listen to, and support some of the most wonderful vocal talent in Key West! Each week, our contestants, who gave of their time and talent for the benefit of the Waterfront Playhouse, came prepared to sing incredibly and knock the ball out of the park!!! On March 27, our Grand Finale presented the final SIX….. by the end of the evening, after singing two songs, it was time to count the ‘votes/money’….and at the end of the evening amazing things happened! Our Aqua Idol for 2018, JERRY DOWNS, was crowned… and six wonderful prize packages were presented to #1 JERRY…#2 LAUREN THOMPSON…. #3 ADAM SWEITZER…. And #4,ERIKA BUTTERS. ….. #5 RYAN WOJCIK….. #6 NICHOLAS McBRIDE!!!! Our prize package this year was valued at over $37,500 in cash and prizes. That night alone, our singers raised $15,642 for our Theater! For the 11 weeks (or you could say 11 ½ hours of singing) all 19 singers helped raise $45,394 collectively! It was a most amazing and glorious evening and all those attending shared a truly magical evening!

I NEED TO THANK…. All the rest of the contestants who began on Jan. 16 but did not make it to the Grand Finale…..each, is an Idol in my estimation…. They are Nikola Czerny, Giancarlo Espinosa, Jimmy Harcup, Sophia Kelly, Vicky Martin, Elaine Nosser, Grace Osborn, Richard Quint, Bernadette Restivo, Rock Solomon, Jim Speake, Randy Stindt, and Becca Whitten…. It was a truly wonderful lineup….I loved them all and will miss them on all the Tuesdays that lie ahead!

I NEED TO THANK…All the loyal Audience members who came most every week… often arriving at 3:30 pm to snag good seats…. All those who loaded those tip buckets for our contestants and ultimately for our Waterfront Playhouse…..all the generous people and businesses out there who donated toward our fabulous prize package… all the great guest judges we had all season….

I NEED TO THANK….. Laurie Thibaud who was our excellent emcee….always entertaining ….always encouraging to our contestants….. to my sidekick Tony Konrath, who is always a joy to work with and who did a great job singing his song at the Finale!!!!

I NEED TO THANK…. Nick Mazza who was the sound and lighting man and who worked so well with all our vocalists helping them do their very best! One of these days I want Nick to sing for me!!!! And thanks to all the bartenders, especially to Mark Watson who was the most attentive server ever!!!!

I NEED TO THANK…..Kimball & Michael Ingram for helping all the non profits in town by letting them use Aqua Nightclub for their individual Aqua Idols.

I NEED TO THANK…. The Waterfront Playhouse Board for their support of this Fundraiser…..and all those who helped by coming, promoting, giving to, donating to, and enjoying this event.

I NEED TO THANK……All those who counted the money behind closed doors while all the fun was going on in the nightclub…. To Keith Dempster…. Jim Morris…. And sometimes Tom Thayer, Gary Symons, and Bunnie Smith…. and… hope I didn’t miss anyone!!!!

I NEED TO THANK ….. my dear husband Bob always…. Who was supporting me 100% throughout this overwhelming fundraiser. He is the best!

PLEASE scroll down to the end of this week’s blog to see a list of all those businesses and person who I thank profusely for their kindness and generosity for our fundraiser. PLEASE frequent their businesses….. please thank them for their great big hearts. They are the BEST!!!

And now it is time to take a break…..at least for a little while….but guess what folks? … There is going to be a Mini Aqua Idol starting on April 10 and ending on May 1… It is being held to raise funds for the VFW roof which was destroyed in the hurricane. Reigning Fantasy Fest Queen, and one of my Aqua Idol stars, Destiny Montgomery, is hosting this event…..every Tuesday at 6:30 to 8 pm for only four weeks. Do give it a whirl!!!

I do believe that when we all send prayers and good vibes to those in need, those prayers mystically meet and surround those being prayed for. Sometimes we pray for miracles and the impossible….sometimes we pray to just cope with the results of what happens to those we are praying for. Sometimes we pray for strength to go on and to accept…sometimes we pray for thanksgiving. We are in this thing called ‘Life’ together….and we all have power within us to help our fellow man. Bless you for remembering our loved ones….Prayer changes things! Let me know if you know of anyone who should be added to this list.

THE ARIES PERSONALITY…MARCH 21 THROUGH APRIL 20

It is hard to ignore the Arien….they have so much personality and vitality, making them the sort of people who like to be noticed! They hate taking back seat in life and will do anything to prevent it! They are natural leaders, not followers. The last thing any Arien wants to do is carry out other people’s orders or be at their beck and call. They loathe being just one of the crowd, and this attitude doesn’t change as they get older. They have to be in control of situations and do not like it one bit when it is the other way around. Life is very black & white for Ariens, with no grey area. They are very idealistic, and always have high expectations that things will turn out well. They have a burning desire to achieve…have an infectious enthusiasm and an adventurous spirit. An Arien without a goal is a sad sight, as they are lost without anything to aim for. They are easy to lose their tempers but it is all over in a flash. One minute they may be shouting their heads off and the next they have forgotten all about it. They do have a problem with bluntness…they like to tell it like it is and this sometimes leads to hurt feelings when they go too far and do not realize the impact of their words. They are outspoken….and if they curb that it would take so much fun out of things! In love, they dream of fairytale romances…they love the thrill of the chase, often finding it the most exciting part of a relationship….often cooling off when they get what they want. Their generous spirit and warm personality make them wonderful friends and delightful lovers. Sex is very important to them and they enjoy a very physical relationship with their partners. They have the utmost faith and trust in people. They fall in love easily and invest everything in their lover. Their hearts are shattered when that partner fails to live up to their expectations. They have a tendency to put loved ones on a pedestal, thinking they can do no wrong. All is great while they are on that pedestal but the moment they turn out to be human, the Arien is crushed and let down and in lots of pain. However, Ariens do not learn from their mistakes and often repeat them over and over again! The best signs for an Aries are Capricorn, Gemini, and Scorpio. In careers, the Arien cannot be tied down as they are free spirits. They must have a job with room to breathe. They hate having a job which requires them to account for their every action. They will become bored and frustrated in these situations. They prefer being self-employed because most Ariens have a low opinion of their higher ups. Their competitive nature makes them natural freelancers…they love coming up with new ideas. Jobs like engineering, mechanics, the armed services, and sports appeal to Ariens. They are better at dreaming up ideas than in following them. They cannot live without money…love spending it and are suckers for impulse buys. They love spending on cars, special bikes, and are attracted to speed and danger. They are also very generous and spend lots of money on friends and loved ones. Saving money is not as interesting to an Arien as spending it. They live for today and not to morrow!!
