“THE GOOD COP” ON NETFLIX, SEPT. 21….The premier of this new show is SEPTEMBER 21….on NETFLIX…. Writer and Executive Producer of this show, HY CONRAD (he of Monk and White Collar fame) … (and also very special friend and Key West resident0… is excited about this new show that is getting LOTS of buzz! THE GOOD COP is a new Dramedy… This show stars Tony Danza as a disgraced NY police officer who never followed ‘the rules’…. And Josh Groban as his son, Tony Jr., earnest and obsessively honest detective who makes a point to ALWAYS follow the rules. SAD TO SAY….I want to make a mention of the recent passing of Sloppy Joe entertainer, Wayne Hammond…. Wayne was part of the popular duo, Pete & Wayne at Sloppy’s for many years… he will be missed…. Also, I just got word that my dear cousin, Joe Sabol, died after a long illness. Bless them both and prayers for all their loved ones they leave behind. In addition…. Renown Broadway star, MARIN MAZZIE passed away on Sept. 13 at age 57 after a three year battle with ovarian cancer. Several years back, playwright Terrence McNally presented a magical evening at the Waterfront Playhouse featuring brilliant songs from his musicals. He brought along Marin and her husband, Jason Danieley to perform these songs and they were amazingly wonderful. It was a night to remember and all those in attendance were left awestruck and thrilled. The audience got to meet this couple after the show and they were charming and gracious. Broadway’s lights are a lot dimmer without the likes of Marin Mazzie to shine brightly! Needless to say, she will be missed.
JIM HALL…SICK BAY….. Very dear friend, JIM HALL, recently endured an Ischemic stroke at his home in Virginia Beach. He is convalescing in the hospital and going through some therapy… and we are all behind him 150% and are hoping he will be all well and good as new before long. *******PLEASE BECOME A MEMBER OF THE WATERFRONT PLAYHOUSE!!! Before long ‘the 2018-19 Season’ in KW will begin again. As a proud Board Member of the Waterfront Playhouse for 13 years, I am hoping that you will take the time to read the following. Our beloved Waterfront Playhouse had some major setbacks and challenges this past year. Hurricane Irma had a huge negative impact on the tourist populations coming to KW and dollars spent at the Theater. Major funding and grant challenges that we had counted on for years, were not there last season. But we persevered and presented yet another excellent Theater Season. In addition, we were confronted with the retirement of our wonderful artistic director of 17 years, Danny Weathers. The good news was that our new artistic director, Tom Thayer, was already employed by The WP as Business & Box Office Mgr. As fate would have it, Tom had run a Theater in Tennessee for 33 years, and he was able to seamlessly move into the AD spot. Of course that meant we needed a new Business Mgr., Box office Mgr…. and a Marketing Director. Then we lost our House Mgr. who also retired. At first it was a tad overwhelming, but we were able find quality people to assume each of those positions. Behind the scenes, we lost several key board members.. but after a search we have 9 fabulous new Board Members and we are thrilled! As you can see, we are on the threshold of new exciting beginnings. In spite of any past challenges, we all know that THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!! Theaters aren’t able to rely on Ticket Sales alone to keep them going…that is only a tiny part of it. In order to continue to present the kind of quality theater you have come to expect from us, we need YOU to help! How can I help? you ask….If you are already a MEMBER of the Waterfront Playhouse Family, I ask that you consider deepening your commitment financially by becoming a member at a higher level than you had before. Each level provides special perks and privileges…. BUT, the important thing is to look at it as not so much as ‘what you can get out of your membership’ but what you are giving and doing to provide Key West with the BEST Theater experience possible! If you have Never been a Member of the Waterfront Playhouse before…. I hope you will realize that we NEED YOUR HELP and support more than ever!…now right NOW! THE MAYOR’S RACE IS STILL ON….Do I have your attention? And then there were TWO…. The Aug. 28 election had TERI JOHNSTON winning 49% of the vote for Mayor …. Margaret Romero garnered 22%….. that means they will both be on the Nov. 6th ballot, and the winner will be decided on that evening! If you are in town to vote, make sure you go out to the polls that day. You can also opt to EARLY VOTE from Oct. 22 thru Nov. 3 at 530 Whitehead St….. AND…. If you will still not be in town to vote early or on the day….and you are able to vote….. PLEASE REQUEST ANOTHER ABSENTEE BALLOT and vote by Mail!!!! Call NOW , Supervisor of Elections, at 305-292-3416. Just want you to know that the important thing is to exercise your right and privilege to vote…. But that being said, I do hope that you will highly consider the candidate that my husband and I are supporting, TERI JOHNSTON!!!! She, in our opinion, will be a superb Mayor in Key West!!!! She does possess all the qualities that we desire in a Leader….. plus her great ability to heal and bring people together. She is a voice of reason and truly cares about each resident in our town!

Son of Fred Greenberg and his late wife, Linda, we are thrilled to hear that Netflix has ordered eight episodes of Tim Greenberg’s new comedy series, ‘Living with Yourself’ starring popular actor, Paul Rudd. Tim created this comedy series and is exec producer…he is an Emmy and Peabody award winner for the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. This is exciting stuff!

HUGH’S VIEW AT THE STUDIOS…..Over $300,000 has been raised for this project… but more is needed to make this dream a reality!
