APRIL 15, THRU APRIL 21, (ETC.) 2016 IN KEY WEST WITH LYNDA!!!!!

HAPPY APRIL 15 BIRTHDAY TO…KEN PESKETT!!!!

DEAR READERS….My very dear cousin Dennis Stevens, his wife Marsha and their children and grandchildren (total 15) rented a big lovely home on the water in Cudjoe Key to celebrate their upcoming wedding anniversary. We saw them on Easter after Mass at St. Mary’s Basilica. Dennis and crew had just arrived the night before, and although he was thrilled to be in the Keys and celebrating, he was concerned about his brother Len and sister, Renny. Here he was in the Keys and his brother, Len had just flown from Nevada to Cleveland and checked into the Cleve. Clinic and facing some major surgery. His sister, Renny was diagnosed with breast cancer and was facing surgery too, but in Las Vegas. I told him “to just enjoy this time with his family.” His plans had been made eons ago, before anyone of his siblings were ill. The family trip in the Keys went well. Len had his surgery in Ohio and it was a success, and the prognosis was very good….all went well. Dennis and Marsha were slated to fly home on the 11^th. On the 10^th, Dennis complained of a bit of numbness on one side of his body. The next morning they flew back to Cleveland (Len was still in the hospital there) and Marsha drove him right to the ER. It seems he had had a stroke with a concerning AVM, which is a tangle of abnormal blood vessels connecting arteries and veins to the brain, which is very rare and affects less than 1% of the population. The doctor was going to do a procedure on Monday. Unfortunately, the procedure was not successful so brain surgery was planned for Tuesday to correct the problem. On Tuesday morning we received the great news that this second operation was a roaring success, that Dennis was resting and would probably going home in a few days. On Wednesday, everything changed. I received a call from my brother that he had another bleed in his brain that affected his brain stem. He collapsed and never regained consciousness. They had him on life support for a while and then when there was no brain activity, they removed it. He passed away at 8:14 pm on Wednesday. We are all distraught over all of this. Please keep the Stevens Family in your thoughts and prayers. And be kind to yourself and your loved ones. Life is so very, very fragile.

I do believe that when we all send prayers and good vibes to those in need, those prayers mystically meet and surround those being prayed for. Sometimes we pray for miracles and the impossible….sometimes we pray to just cope with the results of what happens to those we are praying for. Sometimes we pray for strength to go on and to accept…sometimes we pray for thanksgiving. We are in this thing called ‘Life’ together….and we all have power within us to help our fellow man. Bless you for remembering our loved ones….Prayer changes things! Let me know if you know of anyone who should be added to this LIST.

THANKFUL ON THURSDAY…..I am grateful for my beloved cousin Dennis Stevens who passed away on Wed. He was very dear to me and we were very close. I treasure all the wonderful memories we have of him. I am blessed to have gotten to see him in Key West very recently and to have shared some close moments and memories with him and his lovely wife, Marsha.

LOVE TO YOU, AND REMEMBER……Ordinary riches can be stolen…real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you!

TENNESSEE WILLIAMS EXHIBIT:…..Admission is FREE….Self-guided tours are available to locals and visitors at the Tennessee Williams Exhibit located at 513 Truman just off Duval. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm…Mon.-Sat. Many new items are on display, including memorabilia collected while the Exhibit was on loan to the Museo Nacional De Bellas Artes in Havana, Cuba…..Also on display is Williams’ 1932 Univ. of Mo. Yearbook, Savitar, in which one of his early poems is given a full page. Videos provide info about the life & work of the iconic author who made KW home for 34 years.
