***SHOW TUNES AT WEEK #7 OF AQUA IDOL, FEB. 23….Duval Street will turn into Broadway in NYC when our remaining super vocalists will be singing Broadway Showtunes!!!…And our contestants are….Drum roll, please!!!!!….. TREY FORSYTH …GREG CHAPLIN …ALEXIS LARSEN … BILL MELCHIOR …DESTINY MONTGOMERY …FIONA MOLLOY …ROCK SOLOMON …JEFF EGLESTON ……NINA NEWTON …NANCY ROUSE …AND NIKOLA CZERNYI!!!! Sadly we lost JEFF JOHNSON through elimination last week, and we will lose yet another this week too. Remember, the person earning the least amount of tip money one week is eliminated the following week. That is why it is important that you vote for your fave contestant with dollars to keep them in the contest. If you cannot be there and want to support a vocalist, you can vote online, which is very easily done and explained below. Whatever amount is received online by 5pm on Feb. 23 is added to the container bucket at the end of the evening. Our vocalists sing some great songs to Standing Room Only Audiences so do come early…. You will NOT want to miss a single Aqua Idol eve…. 711 Duval St. Laurie Thibaud is the terrific emcee. On Feb. 23, joining Tony Konrath and me as judge will be singer/actress/former Aqua Idol Winner/& the 2015 reigning Fantasy Fest Queen, Jodyrae Campbell, who will also be gracing us with a song!!! All the money earned goes to benefit the Waterfront Playhouse. Fun for a good cause and the contestants have a chance to win great prize packages. Hope to see you there!!!! SMOKING AT AQUA…..Thankfully, there are no longer ashtrays present on the tables or booths at Aqua anymore….meaning that any smoking that once was it at a huge minimum. The few people who are smokers, seem to go outside now to smoke at the back bar or out on Duval. Most of the regulars who come week after week say there is ‘No longer a problem in regard to smoking!’ So please give us a try!

Whether you can be physically there at Aqua Nightclub from week to week to hear your fave vocalists or not….we have made it very easy for you to vote for your favorite vocalists from week to week. This is how it is done…. Go to the Waterfront Playhouse website at www.waterfrontplayhouse.org. Scroll down until you see the ad for Aqua Idol….Click that image….You will then see various subjects at the top. Go to Support and then hit Donate Online. You will see Donation Details….plus the name of Alexis Larsen….one of our contestants. Hit the arrow next to her name, and all names of the 15 contestants will appear. Hit the name you are donating money toward, and then fill out the options of credit card use from then on. It is very easy. Thanks for your generous support of The Waterfront Playhouse!!!! Hope to see you at Aqua Tuesday…but if you cannot be there, please vote for your faves!!! (Note…On Aqua Idol Tuesdays, at 5:00 pm, Gary Symons, Waterfront Playhouse Business Manager, will run a report for all donations for the contestants since the previous Aqua Idol Tuesday. Those totals will then be added to the bucket totals for that Tuesday’s Aqua Idol….For instance….if a person received $50 in bucket money on Tuesday and $50 in online donations that would be like getting $100. that week. This is NOT cumulative, so this will be done for each remaining contestant on each Aqua Idol Tuesday.)

WE ARE SO HONORED BY SAMUEL’S HOUSE ON MARCH 10TH…..Every year Samuel’s House has a special Dinner to honor ‘Women of Integrity and Men of Valor’…This year, I am humbled to have been recognized, along with my husband, Bob….as an honoree in the category of Contribution to the Performing Arts. Other honorees this year, in various categories are Kate Miano, George Fernandez, Sydney Hamilton, David Horan, Tom Luna, Joel Meisel, Esther Tupino, Michael Ingram, and Deglys Chavarria. This Event is at 6 pm at Marriott Beachside Hotel, 3541 N. Roosevelt Blvd. Tickets are $70 and you can RSVP at 305-296-0240. There will be a sumptuous buffet dinner and a cash bar, plus a silent auction, and of course, presentations to the honorees. We have attended this event in the past and it is a special evening. CAN YOU BE A HOUSING HERO FOR THE WATERFRONT PLAYHOUSE?….There is a big need to house a musician who will be playing for the musical, “The Producers” at the Waterfront Playhouse. His name is Max Zemanovic, the drummer in the orchestra. Dates he needs accommodations are Feb. 26 thru March 26. If you have guest accommodations and can provide assistance please contact Kevin Melloncamp at 305-294-7776. There are benefits to being a Housing Hero and you can check on the website at http://www.waterfrontplayhouse.org/housing-heroes/. In addition, we provide a charitable donation letter with the value of $125 per night of housing provided. If you can only put up Max for two weeks, that is fine….we could hopefully find someone else who can put him up for the other two weeks needed.

THANKFUL ON THURSDAY…..I often try to end my day by thinking of people and things that I am thankful for….it is a nice way to fall asleep…with positive and heartfelt thoughts. This week I am very grateful for all the persons and individuals who are donating to the Waterfront Playhouse Fundraiser, Aqua Idol! I got an extra special response from Cathi Bevins who sent me a note thanking me for the opportunity to contribute to our 7th Annual Idol Fundraiser. She donated a two night stay at the historic, Key Lime Inn. Also…Daryl at Headlines donated a $200 gift certificate for hair services. I will be sending a complete list of donors soon, but in the meantime….I want to thank David Herndon, Bunnie Smith, Kristen Ryan, Bonnie Piceu, Kate Miano, Robert Spottswood, Alan Melnick, Jane Gardner, Jimmy Olson, Lance Harvey, Kathy Russ, and all others who have come through for the Waterfront Playhouse and me. TENNESSEE WILLIAMS EXHIBIT:…..Admission is FREE….Self-guided tours are available to locals and visitors at the Tennessee Williams Exhibit located at 513 Truman just off Duval. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm…Mon.-Sat. Many new items are on display, including memorabilia collected while the Exhibit was on loan to the Museo Nacional De Bellas Artes in Havana, Cuba…..Also on display is Williams’ 1932 Univ. of Mo. Yearbook, Savitar, in which one of his early poems is given a full page. Videos provide info about the life & work of the iconic author who made KW home for 34 years. HUGH’S VIEW AT THE STUDIOS…..Over $300,000 has been raised for this project… but more is needed to make this dream a reality!
